Real Life Photos - Special Edition Cool Racerback, Beat the Heat Dress, Two in One Dress

Special Edition Cool Racerback
Other than a little ruching on the straps, the SE Cool Racerback doesn't look all that special. I don't care for the placement of the Lululemon symbol, either. It's shown in very ordinary Lagoon. They should have at least offered it in some unique, special edition-only colors, then I would be motivated to run down to the store to try it on.

Tangential Mini Rant - Who is the marketing genius that decided to release regular Cool Racerbacks in Lagoon and then put out a Special Edition in the same color? I already have my new solid color Lagoon tank. A little Lagoon goes a long way so I'm not getting another. The person who is in charge of the seasonal collections is obviously not a clothes shopper. Who would put out a bunch of different tops for an entire season in only three solid colors (black and white don't count) and only one (very memorable) print.  I don't count Senorita Pink either since that came out LAST SUMMER. I bought my SP tank then.  I mean really, the stupidity and short sightedness just pisses me off to no end. I have 41 tanks and NONE are the same color except for three solid black ones and two solid white. Less than half of my tanks are solid (i.e., only one color) colored at all but that will change since Lululemon isn't making many prints these days.

Beat the Heat Dress in Various Colors and Arrangements
The Beat the Heat dress doesn't do anything special for me but I know a lot of people are excited to get them. The girls need major support these days so a strapless tube top type dress is a pass for me.

I have the black and white print from last year and it has a black waist band on the print side. It is also a bit shorter than this years version. I tried 2 of this years version on and they did nothing for me...while I adore the one from last year.

"A little lagoon goes a long way"...so true, and very well said! I too have already bought a CRB in lagoon, and, darnit, I'm NOT buying another tank until they come out with one I can wear with my ta ta tamer. I'm 5'7" with broad shoulders, and honestly, a racerback tank does not do me any favors....and getting back to lagoon - I already have waaaay too much lagoon in my wardrobe (CRB, run for fun SS, team spirit LS, run speed skirt in the lagoon checkmate) but I keep buying it because it's either that or chrip! I'm a red head, so chirp doesn't do me any favors either! Lulu, for the love of all that is right in this world, may we please have some new colors!!!!

Lululemon Addict - Love your blog...keep up the good work!

I totally agree! I just bought the cool racerback in lagoon and I have no desire to buy this tank in the same color!! Lululemon could sell tons of these tanks if they introduced it in a new color. Thanks for posting. You took the words right out of my mouth.

those dresses don't look very flattering around the middle....pretty shapeless and "american apparel"-y actually :(

Couldn't agree more about the SE lagoon CRB. Thought the SAME thing when I saw it (I JUST bought a lagoon CRB). UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! The color range is so limited I can't stand it.

I agree with e! The model educators don't look so hot. And the one on the right needs to go up a size- please. Plus it's basically just a tube dress. Maybe if it were a fun print? Otherwise, pass.

I don't know how much more I can take of the current colours, i.e. lagoon, chirp and tang light. Its seems to be around forever. Seriously, if a new tank or jacket or pants comes out in these colours, I think I will scream. The designers seem to be taking the easy way out, rather than creating a new completely new SE tank, they just scrunch up some fabric and make it special. Come on, where is the creativity! I really do hope the designers or the head designer reads this blog. Your thoughts are what most women are thinking. Like you, I do not have two or more items of the same colour even if its a different tank or jacket and refuse to succumb to do doing that. If they are trying to make us buy less, then they are certainly doing a good job at that.

Check out the stuff on Ivivva Athletica's Facebook page...at least the girls get FUN colors (like PURPLE and gasp...GREEN...REAL green). Their designs are cute and some of the jackets, I would wear.
Lulu get your interns OUT of the ladies design dept!
BTW the last "good" designer/design team must have left after the stuff for fall 2009 was in production. Notice, winter 2009 is when the designs turned to shit.

Agree on all counts...I have a lagoon pima tee, and that's it for lagoon for me. I don't care for tang or chirp either, so basically all clothes in these colours are a pass...and I refuse to buy plain black and white. I know lulu can do better.

Okay so I tried on the Beat the Heat dress not because I wanted it but because I try everything on at lulu at least once. I was really disappointed with the sizing. I'm a solid 6 in all tanks with support and I'm always a 4 in tanks, t's and long sleeves with no support in them..... I tried a 4 and a 6 just to be safe. The 4 looked ridiculous cuz it cut in so far under my arms and made me look flat because of how tight the girls were bound. So the natural assumption is 'Okay so a 6 it is'.... The six very literally fell off me.... I'm glad I wasn't a huge fan of this dress to begin with cuz it would have really frustrated me to find this sizing malfunction. The Educator tried really hard to sell me on the 4 he was basically hitting on me in an attempt to make a sale and I was about to freak out on him when one of the girls who knows me well swooped in and informed him that she couldn't let me walk out with that dress it looked so horrible. Worst lulu experience ever.

@erin: the beat the heat dress in the same sizes 4 and 6 do the exact same thing on me (bind me super flat or fall off)

Good to know about the sizing of the beat the heat dress, thanks for sharing! I just ordered the dress in the pink/grey and black/white. As a part time stay at home mom I'm always looking for things I can easily throw on in the morning and stay in all day no matter what it is I'm doing (playing outside, going to play group, getting groceries) and this dress seemed to fit the bill. I love that you can wear it in different ways changing up the look. I didn't get it because I found it especially unique and/or innovative, it looked like something simple to throw on that I would get a ton of use out of. I just hope it fits and is flattering on me!

Thanks ladies for the feedback on the dress...I don't think I will order now...I don't like being bound (at least not by a dress lol)Also, the cool racerback SE is on the website in more colours...black, white and chirp....I can hear your groans now...still not a lot of choice, GIVE US MORE LULU!
The sway jacket is also up on the website...they need some models that make that jacket look better if they want to sell any!

As soon as I saw the SE CRB in lagoon I knew we'd also see it in Tang Light and Chirp. Oooh, maybe it'll even come out in Senorita Pink. Radical!

I like the ruching of the SE CRB but totally agree it should have come in *new*, different colors. I have to say I did order one, in chirp. I liked the gathers and felt $3 extra was okay. I only got it because I haven't worn or taken the tags off the chirp CRB I bought last week, so I could justify it that way. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it! I am really disappointed with how few colors have come out this spring, though, and hope they add more to the spring/summer palette.

Can you believe that the grey/pink sway jacket is almost sold out on both websites...and that is the worst of the colours!
I may actually get my credit cards paid off if lulu doesn't come out with something good soon!
