More Pics - Astro Crops/Pants, Gather & Crow, Lime Stripe & More

Pics of the new Astro crops in the current colors.  I have to reiterate my warning about buying the static charcoal (STCH)/potion purple version of any of these crops, pants, or jackets. They will pill, a lot. (Here is another person who had trouble with her Static Charcaol biker groove shorts). I bought Still pants in STCH and they have pilled in the crotch area more than any other pants I have ever owned. I wear them sparingly, wash them inside out and hang them dry. I love the STCH material - it is lightweight and silky but the fabric does not stretch as much as regular luon and it will pill on areas that rub together such as the crotch and under the arm. Also, it is shiny, as can be seen in these photos, and will not help you hide your flaws.

@Luluaddict - I was thinking about getting the potion purple/static scoopneck. Do you think I would have trouble with that pilling? It shouldn't rub against anything since it's only on the neckline. It hasn't hit my store yet to try on but with your comments about the pilling I just wondered if I would have problems with the top. Thx

I like the baseball hat -- but does anyone know if you can feel that little ruching in the back? I love the lime astro crop-- not crazy about the static for the aforementioned reasons -- I hope they release new lime tops to match too -- They confuse me with releasing a crop/pant/short without a matching top and vice versa! I would love some more modern racers in the new colors -- has anyone seen any?

@momof5 - I'm wearing the baseball hat right now and don't feel the ruching at all.

@luvlulu - I would think the scoopneck would be ok since the material won't rub against anything. My pilling area in the crotch area only - everything else is ok.

I have the stride jacket in static charcoal and love it - sooo soft and silky. I have not had any pilling issue with it. I've tried on a number of pants/crops in the same fabric and I don't like the fabric at all for bottoms - highlights flaws that are basically invisible otherwise.

I tried on the Sunblocker LS today. The puckering/ruching is not flattering, and I am only somewhat busty.

@ pilatesmom - good to know the stch stride is not pilling under the arms. Except for loose fitting Still pants, I wouldn't get stch for bottoms. I've tried on a few of bottoms in static charcoal and the lighter version and hated them. The older heathered charcoal was much better.

Hmm... I like static charcoal bottoms on me, and they are so soft and silky! But you are right they do pill horribly.

Btw, the link you posted of that other blog is pretty cool... looks like she buys a lot of Lulu too!

Love your blog. Real women, not models so really see how the items fit. Wish I could go to a store as often as you. 40+ miles for me so not as often. Will be there this Sat. and now know what I will look for.

must agree...superficial endeavors is a riot to read! wish I had the time (and money)...two kids and a mortgage, with military pay--yeah, I don't think so!

funnily enough, I have actually found that my static/stitch pants have actually pilled significantly LESS than my regular luon pants. I have the lighter grey version, and granted they are the still pants..but I actually have absolutely no pilling on them-even in between the thighs.

I have had the same non-pilling issues as the post above me--my static charcoal wunder groove crop (with the light spring quilting waistband) show no signs of pilling and all. So strange that their luon fabrics differ so much, even in the same colors.

@ Anons - I wonder if the Wunder Unders use a different version of the static charcoal luon. I know the luon in the Wunder Unders has always felt different when I've tried them on in black compared.

Of all the pants I own, the static charcoal has pilled on me the worst so I am not willing to pay full price for another pair of static charcoal pants. I might try it again if I can pick up another pair at a significant discount but I won't risk my $ again. It's a tough color to coordinate anyway, although it looks great with the potion purple and black tops but I don't have that many black tanks since I have mostly black pants.

Based on the more flattering pic you found of the Sunblocker, I'm wondering if all that puckering is due to the woman's body shape (really muscular and small chested), as she is the one modeling all 4 colors of it. Hm... I like the looks of that top, so I hope it looks good on other body shapes.
I like that hat though.
