Comparison of Old Stratus Crops and New Stratus Wonder Unders

 Stratus Crops from May 2009
The Stratus crops came out last May but never made it my local stores so I never got to try them on. I think they showed up on-line only. The waistband and leg stripe designs have now been incorporated into the Wunder Unders:

 New Stratus Wunder Unders

For those of you who are thinking of buying the new Stratus Wunder Unders here is what a couple of readers had to say about the waistband and leg stripes:

Pilatesmom gave a review of the fit of the Stratus crops: a few years ago lulu did a stratus style crop with a flared bottom and I didn't like the feeling of all the seaming on my tush and the waistband was a single layer (not double layer with pocket like the current wunders or grooves) and resulted in a bit of a digging in sensation at the waist.

Momof5 also remembers a similar waistband design and gives her review: I had a pair of crops that although they weren't the stratus were similar with the diagonal stitching -- and I ended up selling them because the stitching was so annoying while working out -- I forget the name of the crops -- I would have to wait until any reviews came out about these -- they look cute -- but the excessive stitching might be an issue!

OT --it totally annoys me when I hear of all the deals in the stores -- but they don't have them online --it is unethical IMO -- to discount the same product in store but not online -- ARGH!!! I am happy you guys are getting such bargains -- but sad for those of us not near a store!!!

are the diagonal stripes the rainbow crops? i have those too but the seaming never bothers me.

@momof5 My nearest store is in the city, an hour away. I rarely get to go there, and when I do, I never see deals like some of these lucky ladies are posting.

The next closest lulu is a few provinces away, so I only have the one little one an hour away that I get to once every three months or so. I feel your pain, LOL

I just called the US GEC, and they can get some of the items that are marked down--including the half moon stuff!

I live in the bay area of California and there are 4 stores within 1 hour. I always hear about these great deals everyone gets. Anytime I go there might be markdowns but not as low of pricing as some people mention. Most of the time all the smaller sizes are already gone or I don't like the colors. It's rare I get anything on sale. I agree if it's marked down in the store it should be done online. Sunday on FB people were talking about the V-neck manifesto being $39. I called my store they said it was reg. price. Today they marked them down. I just bought a passion v-neck & white v-neck manifesto top for $39. I never would have paid the $88 price, that's way too high. Also the same two colors in the racerback for $29. They did have the half moon stuff on sale too but I only wanted solid black crops and they were already gone.

@anon: yes, the three diagonal stripes were the rainbow crops. i sold those on ebay along with the stratus crops also because the seaming across the tush was very distracting (also not very flattering kind of cutting the tush in half).

Hey, you seem to know your Lulu merchandise. I have seen quite a few girls in my hot yoga class wearing a lulu tank that is like open on the sides and then there is a what seems to be attached sports bra (usually in a different colour) and the back has a Y shape and the logo is on the bra part on the back left. I would love to get one but haven't seen it in store/online and have no idea what it's called. I've seen girls with different combinations like black and black, grey and pink, I think grey and orange too. I want to get one because of it's openness and given I sweat a ton.

@steph: it is the no limits tank. they just came out with a new series of colors a couple of weeks ago (but I think only in canada?)

Momof5 - You know, I had thought the same exact thing as you when the Mynah crops were marked down online but not my local Lulu store. Since I shop there so much, I asked the manager why that is so. She basically said that the online store operates independently from their regular stores, saying that just because something is marked down in one area, it doesn't necessarily mean it gets marked down all over. She also said that, in the stores, they can choose to mark things down based on either the corporate office telling them to (i.e., giving them a list of things to mark down), if there are only a few sizes left of certain
styles, or if things just aren't selling well. I agree with you, however, that it'd be nice if things were more consistent.

Thanks pilatesmom. Yes, after googling "Lululemon Open sides tank" I found the name but none in stock online :( Called the 800 number and guy didn't know if it's discontinued. Haven't seen them in my stores and have been looking since end of April (but didn't know the name). I am in Canada so hopefully I can get lucky with them.

I don't recall so much at lulu being marked down so quickly. When I see a new line of items (Seek the Peak, for example, or Half Moon) I'm predicting how many weeks til it hits loot. Lately I've been buying more tried and true items as it sucks to buy an item full price and then see it on the loot rack soon after. I know it's part of lulu's selling strategy to sell as much of their product as they can for full price for as long as they can, but I think this will soon backfire. Many of us are getting very good at predicting items that will be hitting loot in short order, and holding off buying accordingly. Lulu's refusal to do price adjustments within a reasonable period of time like every other large retailer will also bite them in the butt in this regard. Not to mention the dissatisfaction of online only shoppers, who hear about the great 'deals' found at the stores, but are stuck with the full online price.

The black no limit tank is finally hitting the california stores. I wonder if the other colors will be on the upload Thursday. I am picking mine up tomorrow, I can't wait. I have the passion one but really wanted another, especially black. Hip Halter also arrived too in wish & pig w/coal accent.

I kinda feel like the side stripe that goes down the side of the leg for the stratus wunders might make someone look wider than they actually are. Not liking the way it looks on.

I've seen pics of the rainbow crops. I'll try to dig up a photo.

All these deals are killing me. I'm trying to stay strong since hubby is annoyed enough at my lululemon spending but I have a feeling I will breakdown soon and make a trip. It helps that I never loved the Seek the Peak and Half Moon stuff that much.

The two stores nearest me - both 15 miles away - often have different items marked down. The men's sweatshirt - the Revive - I paid $24 at one store was still at $59 the other.

Interesting that the GEC will get you markdown stuff.

I check the Loot section several times a day to see if any new deals have popped up. I'm hoping new stuff will show up soon.

@momof5 - I am also irritated that the discounts differ from store to store. In some cases, an items is on markdown in one store, but full price at another store. Or, as Luluaddict has mentioned lately, the deals are great in the US stores but in the Canadian stores we never see $19 items - ever! And I mean, it's a Canadian company. My personal opinion, is that any sale items should be on sale bot online and in-store, and that the price should be consistent no matter where you see or buy that item. It makes no sense to me that you can get something for $19 in one store, but pay full price in another! Oops - I think I got carried away with my vent :-)

@Steph: I'm not sure where you are in Canada, but I can confirm that they have the No Limit tanks in Montreal and TO. Have you tried the exchange page on FB? There are some great ladies who can look for you! I can look for you too if you like. I know that at my store (the one I go to most often, they don't have many sizes left (I grabbed one when they came out a few weeks ago) and they do seem to be going fast, based on the TO lady!

I think if they are trying to increase their online sales like they mention in their quarterly report they are going to have to stop the disconnect between online and B&M -- if I purchased something on Jcrew online -- and it was lower in the store within 2 weeks -- i would get a price adjustment -- I can understand certain items in certain areas not performing as well and hence getting marked down -- but online the devi jacket, half moon, mynah, seek the peak and the winter remixes have been full price for months with the same sizes left --but still no markdown - It really makes me as a consumer feel unappreciated that we cannot score some of the same deals simply because a store is not near me! I would feel like a sucker to think i purchased the mani t at 88 knowing someone just bought it for 39, or seek the peak at 98 versus 39 -- I agree with anon -that I tend to stick to full price basics or stuff i love, online and wait for deals on ebay for the other less popular stuff

Thanks LemAnn! I am in Toronto and got a grey/pink one on Bloor today :) I do like black and black too. Will consider getting it too haha but I have so many workout clothes :S I'd love to wear this to the gym but am afraid of creepers. At least yoga is mostly women.
