Light Up Jersey - Not So New

I was searching through my photo files looking for pics of the Light Up Jersey and I found the above photo - the Tri My Best Jersey from February of '09.  I don't remember this jersey but I wouldn't have been in the market for a top like this anyway. The design looks identical to the Light Up except for the reflective stripes.

The bird design on the side was used in the Mix a Lot print, shown here:

Interesting! Is that a little bird design on the side, similar to the spirit pullover?

it is similar. The spirit pullover had reflective butterflies. The birds were also reflective. The Tri My Best was only seen in a select number of stores as part of a triatholon line that did not do so well. Probably why not very many people are comparing it to the new light up jersey. It is in fact the EXACT same design, including the reflective.

I wonder why they brought it back? Are people willing to buy *anything* Lulu now?

People have been asking for bike stuff on the FB site so that may be why they are bringing it back. Also, they are sponsoring the Saxo-Bank cycling team, a team with some of the best riders in the world, in the Tour de France so maybe they are going to be more serious about getting into cycling wear.

Although the cut is cute (I can't comment on functionality), offering it in only gray, solid black, and solid white seems rather short-sighted. It would have been pretty in Wish Blue, Citron, and Pig Pink.

I think LuluAddict is right - the release of the bike stuff seems timed to coincide with the Tour de France. Given the Team Saxo-Bank sponsorship, I'm surprised they didn't release some men's cycling gear though. Seems like a missed opportunity on Lulu's part.

Interesting about Lulu sponsoring a TDF team. I am big into cycling and did not know that. I LOVE Lulu for all things fitness, but I would hesitate on the bike gear personally.I buy really high end biking gear, shorts specifically- you get what you pay for. There is no issue here paying $200 for shorts that will endure a 100 mile ride. Probably great gear for Spin, although I am not feeling the Lulu bike shorts ( never seen in person) they are just really really long...

Ah, I never knew what that print was called. Mix a lot, good to know. That's a pretty one. I wish Lulu would do more prints. Solids are boring after a while!

@anon 9:26 pm - There was feedback on the Zoom bike shorts that the chamois was really cheap. From the photos I've seen of the Light Up Short the chamois looks kind of thin.

I agree that the Light Up Jerseys should be in more colors (and lighter ones!) if the intended purpose is to be visible.

I found the Run: Zoom Bike Shorts to be a perfect length, but I'd agree that the chamois felt cheap. I didn't think they were worth full price.

My lulu tri-babe shorts from last summer aren't bad; I wore them on a 30 mile bike ride with my hubby last weekend. I have a pair of Spin Shorts from Athleta that were around $50 that aren't bad - chamois-wise and fit-wise.

I don't have any real fancy expensive bike shorts from other brands, as my 30 mile bike ride last Sunday is my longest yet!
