Loving Alarming & Oasis This Time Around

I am on vacation visiting family in Arizona and was able to visit both the Phoenix store and the Tucson showroom within the last day. [My husband is an indulgent guy. ;-)] I was hoping to get some good markdown deals but they had what is already on loot.  Both stores had the new Alarming and Oasis Power Ys, Inner Strength, Cool Racerbacks, and Define Jackets.  Has Alarming Red changed from last year or is it just used better this year? Because I was meh about it last year and really like it this year. I am hoping it will come out in some other tanks than the Power Y, Inner Strength, and CRB. I also really like Oasis much better this time around and it goes well with both Angel Blue and Lagoon. My sister bought an Oasis Power Y today. She ended up sizing down in that color because it seemed to fit a little larger in the chest than her normal size. She also bought a Heathered Coal Wee Stripe Power Y in her normal size so there might be something odd with the Oasis lot. Could be the batch that this store got or it's one of those color related size things I've run into before - maybe the oasis was made in a different factory than other Power Ys. She ended up buying quite a lot today - two pairs of Reverse Groove shorts, an Angle Half Moon jacket, two Power Ys, and, since it's my birthday, a Coal with Heathered Coal Wee Stripe Define jacket for me. I've had my eye on that jacket forever. What a great sister! I'd better get her something good for Christmas.

I finally got to view the extended version of the sneak peek video. The CRB mesh racerback looks interesting. The front part almost looked like luxtreme because it has that static pattern to it. Maybe luluemon is making light luon in the static pattern. About time they make something besides solid colored CRBs. I like power mesh a lot but think the mesh will be very see-through. It certainly looked that way when she held it up. The tank that looked like the Pep tank, with the new circle mesh/silverescent material was kind of ugly. The basic style was ok, but the color combo was ugh. I think it will be much better in another color combo or a solid. It was a rather ordinary looking tank but maybe the fabric will feel super amazing on. The Fireside french terry sweat pant looked comfy but those are the type of pant I'll be waiting to pick up on markdown. The bags were pretty cute. I especially liked the one that looked kind of like an update of the Lucky Tote.

I agree that this year the alarming color seems brighter and bolder than last years. I have the banded Power Y from last year and although it is the luxtreme fabric, the color is much more subdued. Thanks for all your continued reviews! Your input always helps in my decision making process :)

I saw a pic of a sport gray/alarming scuba hoodie that looked nice, too...

Happy Birthday!

You like both alarming and oasis...! that doesn't help my decision at all when considering Stride jackets. haha. I'll have to check them out in person this week...if I can decide on one of them, it can be a birthday present to myself (this Friday!) I have the Cozy Up in heathered charcoal, so I don't know if I should stay away from gray? It will be a different fabric/weight though. Also have to see how close Oasis is to Angel blue, because I got the flashback hoodie in angel blue on loot a couple weeks ago.

@M - that color combo for the scuba hoodie does look nice!

Alarming is a color that you have to try on to like. I didn't think that I liked it last year (thought it too orange), I put it on and it is very "illuminating". I have my eye on the new Stride with the alarming detail or the new Scuba...
Glad you had a fun birthday :-).

PS Loved the lucky-ish bag too-the color (ivy) was even better. So glad that color is coming out...one of my favorites!

Love your blog. I read it everyday to get the latest Lululemon news.

I too included a Lululemon store visit on my recent vacation. The new San Diego showroom has friendly, helpful, and most important, knowledgeable staff. They were quick to point out the attributes of styles I was considering and made great suggestions on what pants were best for yoga vs. running.

On the other hand, what's up with the lack of changing rooms? It was unpleasant to try on items in the bathroom. Toilet and sink are unavoidable and since it's the only woman's changing room/bathroom, people are constantly knocking while you're trying on items. I prefer the roomy, well appointed dressing rooms of the AZ Biltmore and Borgata locations. Have you ever run into this situation before?

I don't know last year's Alarming but I really liked the color in store last week. Oasis & River Rock Stride jacket is growing in me now. I didn't have time last week, so hopefully I find time to go there this week and my size still there.

The product alerts from my local store call that red color 'tomatoe'. Whatever you call it I am loving it! Last fall's colors did nothing for me but so far this year's selection looks great!

Happy Birthday!
I have your blog bookmarked as a tab of my browser, and I check it everyday. The bad thing about it, is that I'm spending too much money on lulu... but it's a happy addiction, and I sure look good.

Hey lulu experts! Quick question... If I see something pop up on blogs and the Internet, but the item is not yet listed on the lulu website, will I have any luck if I try to call in an order? I love the stride jacket you show here with the alarming detail, but it's not on the website. This is probably obvious, but I don't live near a full store. Cheers!

Yes. Try calling the GEC and the will most likely have it if it's already in stores. Good Luck.

RunningOnCoffee said...

Hopefully it will come online soon - it just showed up at my local store last Wednesday. I don't have much experience with calling the GEC. I can say I tried on the Stride in Coal/Alarming and Oasis - and I loved them both, but came home with Oasis. I sized down one size for a more fitted look (like all 4 gals wearing Strides in LuluAddict's 7/16 post). If I got my normal size it would have been too big in the shoulders, and kind of loose all over.

I just got back from my local store to try on alarming and oasis. Luckily alarming doesn't look good with my blonde hair. One less color to purchase. I did get the wunder groove crop w/oasis riverrock band, oasis crb & oasis stride jacket (sized down from 6 to a 4) I also like the more fitted look but it's still roomy. It's my 3rd stride jacket now. As soon as they get the long sleeve pima's in I'll pick that up later this week in black.

I noticed the Oasis CRB on the lulu website, but the picture looks different. Was Oasis out last year and if so, does it differ at all from the Oasis stuff coming out now? I would assume it's the same, but just want to make sure before ordering!

Luluaddict,

I wish to check with you. The sewing stitching around the neckline of your black CRB made with circle mesh, is the thread black in colour or it come with some patches of white thread? I have mine with patches of white all over the neckline, i am wondering whether is defective.

ChiRunner said...

@Anon - My black circle mesh CRB is the same way. On the inside stitching they used thread goes from black to white/silver and then back to black. I'm pretty certain it was made that way intentionally and is not a defect. And it is just on the inside regardless, so it doesn't show when you wear it.

Kristin said...

Anon @ 2:09 - I got an angel CRB recently, and the inside stitching goes from angel blue to darker blue and back again. At first I too thought it might be a defect but then decided it was intentional. It's on the inside so you can't see it and the stitching is secure so I'm the only one who knows it is like that.

RunningOnCoffee said...

@Kristin-
My wish blue and lavender CRBs do that on the inside too. Which makes me wonder why it's so special and worth $3 to get the SE CRB that has the varied stitching on the outside, when they're already doing it on the inside.

Kristin said...

Running on Coffee - maybe we should wear our CRBs inside out? heehee

ojodeazul said...

@Kristin...don't laugh, a woman at my bar method class this am had her coal CRB on inside out....

Anonymous said...

I'm tempted to wear some lulu stuff inside out. I get tired of seeing the logo on every piece of clothing I have, lol.

Anonymous said...

i wear my CRBs inside out all the time because I love the stitchings on the inside! you can't tell that's its worn inside out and i like that there's no logo showing.

Kristin said...

So do lots of CRB colors come with interesting stitching on the inside? My angel one is my first and only CRB (so far, anyways!). Why would they put contrasting stitching on the outside - and charge more - when you can just wear the one you have inside out? I didn't even know they could be worn inside out, I hadn't checked that the seams would not look funny, etc. Good to know!

looks like a little replenishment in loot -- some flashback hoodies and crops, run zoom crops in black, and some other items

RunningOnCoffee said...

Just noticed that! I was about to buy some Zoom crops from a nice person on the Lulu Exchange group on Facebook for $52 + $5 shipping. I refreshed the description of the Zoom Crop to make sure I wanted them, and voila! They were there in my size!!

Did anyone take a look at the Canadian Loot? Holy crow--too bad they charge some ungodly taxes up north. Oh, god forbid the US buyers should have access to the Canadian product--aren't they all made in Taiwan, China, Isreal, Vietnam, etc?

M said...

Bought a pair of the Gather & Crow crops in coal/heathered coal wee stripe in loot :)

Luvlulu said...

@runningoncoffee - You'll love the zoom crops. I just bought a pair a couple weeks ago on loot and they are great. They are now one of my favorites.

carolinagirl said...

I'm new to lululemon and dangerously hooked already! Could smne pls tell me if there's a set day that they replenish the loot? Also, do sizes run true across the different tanks? I'm a 4 in the Scoop Neck and wonder if I can order 4 across the board and on ebay safely? Thank you! Enjoying your blog!

Jade said...

@carolinagirl Welcome to the club! Re: Loot. I haven't noticed a set day for loot uploads. It seems to vary depending on what they have available. As for sizing, I have found that generally the sizes are the same across most tanks, but for certain styles, you may need to adjust your size. It's best to try on new styles in the stores to see how the tops fit.

M said...

@carolinagirl - I wear a 4 in scoop neck tanks, and in general, can wear a 4 in most other tanks (cool racerback, run swiftly racerback)

There are some however, that run big, and if you want it to fit the same, you'll need to size down (example: I just wanna run)

I am looking for some help from the lulu fans out there. I bought the define jacket in wish blue last week and I am thinking maybe I shouldn't keep it. I am trying to figure out what to wear with it. I am still within my 14 day return time. I have bought a lot of jackets lately and I just wasn't sure if this color is as versatile as some of the others. I originally purchased this thinking it was the next bold blue (which I started buying lulu after that and wasn't able to purchase any jackets in that color). Now I'm thinking maybe it's a color I can live without. Please give me your opinions fellow lulu lovers. I currently have several defines: white, angel, potion, lagoon and some strides, black, the new grey stripe & oasis. Thx

carolinagirl said...

Thank you Jade and M (and anyone else in the future) for your advice. :)

M said...

@Anonymous - if you're second-guessing keeping it, chances are you'll regret it if you keep it!

I think it would go great with coal or black bottoms and even with blue jeans...which I why I bought one last week...and love it!

BUT...that's the only jacket I own so far. Sounds like you've got more than enough variety.
