New Colors - Plum, Lilac, Teal Zeal, & Space Dye is Back. Also Store Trip Report.

It's back to the future again with "new" colors in the same clothes. I love purple but after Pow Purple, Lavender, Potion, and Lolo, I am kind of purpled-out, especially since they are being offered in tops/clothes I already have a ton of. Two of the newer colors for the fall are Plum and Lilac.  The Plum is rather nice but I have enough Push UR Limits and Power Ys so unless it comes in a new top, I am going to sit it out. Ditto for the Lilac. Oh yes, it looks like Space Dye has made a comeback, too. Yay.

Click on the photos to enlarge them.

Store Trip Report

I went to the store today to return my Flow and Go and left with nothing which is very unusual. There were quite a few things on the markdown rack at the first cut of markdowns but nothing I wanted. I saw lots of lolo Wear With Alls, Fireside Jackets, and Cross Train Pullovers all about $20 off. I tried on the Tadasana Tank and Jacket. The tank only goes to a 10 so I was spilling out of the front and sides of it but otherwise it fit very comfortably so it must fit loose through the waist. I thought it was ok but definitely not for busty gals (the spaghetti staps cut into my shoulders under the weight of my boobs) and it will make your upper back look like a college swimmer.

I also tried on the Tadasana Jacket. It is very long. I am 5' 5" and it came to below my rear. The mesh sags down below the edge of the jacket, too, in back which gives it an odd look. I didn't have any problem with the fit of the arms or anything as I have read about. It's not a truly hideous jacket and if it hits the markdown rack for $40 or so I might get it but no way at full price.

I thought I would never get sick of purple, but as you said after Potion, Lolo and Lavendar, I think I have had enough of it. I think Lulu makes so much aqua colors too. Still waiting for that dark red or some pretty pinks.

Yuck to space dyes.

First of all I love your blog. I live in Utah that only has one soon to be 2 tiny showrooms so our pickins are slim. Your review make buying online so much easier!

I agree that I am purpled out but I love the new plum and might have to add to my push ur limits collection! I am also not usually a space dye lover but something about the teal scoop neck appeals to me.

Keep up the great reviews!

I can't believe they are doing space-dye again. YUCK!!

I am not a fan of space dye. I didn't like it last run and still don't. The Tadasna Jacket was marked down to $79 at my store as well as the Community jacket. I bought a lolo & a black community jacket for $79 each. They were a lot of markdowns today, push ur limits tanks in black, oasis and some other colors for $34. Usually you see the seasonal colors go on markdown but rarely is black included. With so many markdowns, that means they are making room for new stuff, I can't wait to see what else is coming.

I hear ya on being purpled out. I think plum is pretty, but I don't have a need for it. Not interested in the space dye. Thanks for the comments on the Tadasana jacket; I think I'm ok with my more fitted Stride jacket!

Where are the pretty prints like fat bird floral? Enough with the solids.... static id NOT a pretty pattern BTW

Agree about the prints. Its time Lulu brings back some prints. Am not sure why they are refraining from doing so there are lots of feedback on FB for prints. I would not consider the space dye a print. Just a lazy way of putting some colors and line together.

I too am a bit purpled out, and while the plum is pretty--it doesn't really make me want to work out and sweat...puts me more in the mood for a glass of wine :) I need my workout clothes to inspire me a bit! It is a beautiful color--just not for exercising!

Ugh I was just thinking about the space dye and was wondering if they would do more this year...looks like the answer is yes unfortunately. The plum color looks nice, but I have nothing that it would pair with. Thanks for the review of the Tadasana jacket. Sounds like I probably won't like this one.

Jesus...space dye AGAIN ???? Their designers aren't really elevating their imaginations towards greatness, are they?

I think there are two reasons they don't do prints anymore. 1) Cost. I'm pretty sure they are more expensive to make, and 2) They are considered too "cougarific" as someone once commented here. Lululemon's been trying to appeal to a younger crowd for a couple of years now. I think the Mindful tank is one of the more old lady-ish (or matronly as some of you have said) looking tanks they've come up with in a long time so I don't really buy that prints are cougarific at all.

I know people disagree, but I happen to really love the bright space dye colors from last year. Just a personal preference. When I heard that new space dye colors were coming out, I was really jazzed, but then I saw the colors. Blegh. If they don't combine really different colors, it just looks like static. Bo-ring.

And I agree on the prints. I think they shy away from prints because they can look dated relatively soon after release. The bright colors go out of style less quickly.

I am with the last comment...I love space dye (in certain colors). For me, it's a nice change of pace from solids without being too loud. I will have to see the items in more detail to see if I like these colors in space dye.

I like the look of the straps in it in the Push Ur Limits but would rather see a new design. Actually the space dye with the lilac 5o Rep looks identical to the space dye color of a Lucy tank this summer (which I have!).

There is nothing more "cougarific" to me than the lady at my gym that wears full-on tangerine space dye (we are talking Define jacket, Scoop Neck tank, and Groove crops) with her boob job and over-processed hair.

HAHAHA Houndlvr67 -- she must have a twin at my gym because I know exactly the look you are talking about -- dont forget the spraytan!

The lulu prints of old were like works of art. The designer who designed those prints was incredibly talented and it appears...gone.

I have been slowly buying older print tanks on ebay. I had passed on many at the time thinking there would always be prints to choose from...wrong.

I enjoy being the only person wearing such a pretty and artistic print. I don't care if it is dated, I appreciate the beauty of the design. The other day in class there were about 8 women wearing senorita pink. It was so apparent many were commenting on it. Don't get me wrong, I like senorita pink too but not when 20% of the class is wearing it as well.

@pattybea - I wonder where that designer went because her/his designs were just gorgeous. I would follow her to whatever sportswear company she/he is now.

My gym is full of cheapos so there aren't that many people wearing Lululemon but I would hate to have the same top on as other people.

You are smart to buy older stuff on eBay. The new stuff is so poorly made. I took in my Zoom Knee shorts AND a Hills Pullover this weekend to get unraveling seams fixed. SO annoying!

If you lived in Alabama like me, you could be the only person in town wearing Lulu!

Sarah said...

Yeah the tang space dye was really terrible.I also have started seeking out older lulu on eBay :) I am in the DC area and see a fair amount of lulu in and out of the gym.

Pattybea said...

Today in class-- 3 women, all unfortunately lined up in a row, wearing the wee stripe power y.

I agree on the poorly made...I have 2 of the strides with the seaming problem. The current groove pant luon is very thin. Though I was just in the store and they had a heathered charcoal groove pant that was nice and thick. Probably too thick for a workout though. The color is similar to the heathered charcoal of last year but it is more matte.

I bought a pair of brown grooves, called fox. Have been wanting a brown pair for awhile so was glad to see them in the store. Though they are pretty thin :( They are going to look great with an older tank I bought that is basically a creamy tan artistic print with brown straps.

Very little on sale at my store and I didn't look at much.

My local Lulu has the Tadasana jacket repriced to $98. I actually really love it and am wearing it now. :) It is long but I like longer, less fitted in the middle jackets. The bottom of the mesh does hang a little but it doesn't bother me. Also TTS for me.

LuluAddict said...

@ Pattybea - What exactly is the problem with the Strides? I saw the photos on the Lululemon feedback page - the seams on the sleeves come apart? It has something to do with the placement of the zippers and ribbed luon used on the bottom of the arm?

Do you think the heathered charcoal grooves are older? It is an older color. I've run into that before - where a store puts out stuff it's had in back or in a drawer. I had a pair of Fox Relaxed Fit crops. That was at least 2-3 years ago before the current problems and the luon pilled really easily on them for some reason. The fox felt thinner than my teak brown Still pants.

Pattybea said...

My seams are not falling apart, they are getting fuzzy. I have been thinking the same thing---it is the zipper making the seam get fuzzy. Really not a big deal...can be trimmed. What irks me more is that the sleeve is kind of sloppy, big and puckery at the wrist, I think due to the ribbed luon being stitched to the regular luon.

Now looking at the website I realize the heathered charcoal grooves I tried on were the organic grooves. I didn't read the tag real well. I also see that the fox grooves are on the website. So, old stock or just a rehashing of an old color?? They are thin though...

I have not had the pilling problems like so many others. I take very good care of it AND I have a lot of lulu so things do not get worn as frequently. I think that has more to do with it than anything else. I also don't spin or bike.

OT, there is a beautiful size 12 power y for sale on the FB exchange page...oh just rechecked--gone--I think it was the three print...really pretty...

I was warned by the educator at my store to keep my zippers closed or the stitching may catch. My stride is Oasis, and I bought it back in July. I haven't had any of the issues I was warned about; still looks new. Maybe Oasis wasn't one of the colors involved with seams falling apart?

I agree with Zanna. I need Dark Red.

The color palette feels so repetitive- aqua, purple, bright pink. And if they don't want to give us prints, how about little details like the little hummingbird on (what I believe was) the Passion crop!

LuluAddict said...

I would love a dark red. It's been years since they've had one.
