Do You Buy Lululemon to Keep Yourself Motivated?

Kelly Osbourne is probably airbrushed up the wazoo in this cover but she has lost a ton of weight. In the article she talks about how she motivated herself to go to the gym:

"I would look at myself and think, 'Ugh!' I was miserable. To get to the gym — when you already don't like yourself — is really hard. So I had to make it fun. I started wearing cute outfits and putting on a little bit of makeup. And as vain as it sounds, it really helped me because eventually I stopped hating the way I looked."

Her words really ring true for me. When I first discovered Lululemon, I would buy one tank a month to keep myself motivated. Now it's turned into an insane obsession but I still get a big mood boost from wearing a new piece, especially if it's in a bold color. Just the other day, I couldn't wait to rip the tags off my new Heart Tank. The only downside is I am hooked on getting new designs and colors and get bored with the older stuff even if I loved it a year ago. I know I'm not the only one who feels like this because I know there are a few of you who regularly sell their older stuff on eBay.

I, too, find buying some Lulu keeps me motivated. I enjoy having the proper clothing for the workouts that I do. It makes a huge difference, for me at least.

I feel the same way you do, I love wearing their stuff and it motivates me to work out. I am trying to be more picky what I buy so I do not end up having too much and trying to sell it or donate it. I find having multiple rollouts of new items in a month too tempting, I wish they would have 1 a month it will be easier to budget.

I have just starting getting back into fitness in the last few months and Lulu is true motivation. Especially at first when the weight wasn't coming off as fast as I hoped, it kept me going because I was excited to wear my cute stuff.

It has however gotten a bit out of hand. I have spent a ridiculous amount in just the last few months and really need to get a grip, but I am hooked!!

I too am a Lululemon addict!

Okay, I am in the same boat as you guys...I have bought too much Lulu since discovering it in the past year. Actually, it is my husband's fault - he bought me an outfit for Valentine's Day and I was hooked. I wonder if he regrets it now. :) It would definitely help if they did not release things so spread out, I would prioritize more, but I suppose that is their strategy.

My Lulu clothes definitely motivate me. I work out at home more than at the gym, and I find that it makes a huge difference to wear cute, athletic clothes even when no one else will see me. It has also made a huge impact on me to have cute, comfy, active clothes that I can wear on a daily basis (I stay home with my kids) and be able to work around the house, be active, and still look and feel put together for running the kids around and running errands.

That's true for me too! Cute outfits made working out more fun and motivating. I also used to make videos on Youtube so it was kind of fun to have new workout gear to wear in those too. Unfortunately, I also have that problem of getting bored of some outfits that are still otherwise nice. I should really start selling some stuff, like this nice rose print shape-up jacket! I just never wear red anymore, but I used to, and I have like 3 red or reddish Lulu items I just don't use these days.

agree with everyone....it's very motivating to have new cute clothes to wear to workout. you can easily go from the gym to the store to, well, anywhere, without trying or worrying about how you look. it's a confidence booster. it's especially great after baby because it sucks you in and shapes things around a little bit plus super comfy (and washes well for all those baby messes.)

Kelly Osborne looks amazing!!
I too am slightly obsessed with each new piece that comes out and am constantly trying to make room in my Lululemon closet by selling the older items.
Hubby tolerates it because I tell him "this frivolity is only applied to clothing and not to husbands.." lol

My hubby loves Lululemon because a) it motivates me to work out and b) my butt looks fabulous in the Wunder Unders & Polocrosse Pants!

My husband tolerates my Lululemon obsession because he likes the tight pants and the cleavage-tastic tops, although for the gym those get another bra put under them. ;-)

I have said for years, long before Lululemon, that being in a cute form fitting workout outfit is much more motivating than a baggy whatever. Wearing an oversized t-shirt or the like, such that you can't see your shape will do you no mental good in the gym.

To look good is to feel good.

Agree! When you're at the gym sweating, and catch a glimpse of yourself, you want to look good! My motivation to work out is to look even better in my Lulu.

Guilty! I work from home and the only time I actually get dressed is to go to the gym, so I definitely find it much more appealing to workout in LLL's super cute stuff. Plus I don't live anywhere near a store, so it's nice to have something unique from all the Nike and whatnot that other people are wearing.

I started working out again about a year ago, I'm at the gym at least 4x/week and between that & WW I have dropped 40lbs. I've got another 15 to go till I'm at my goal but it IS motivating to transition not only into smaller sizes but new fun styles! But, it has become an addiction though and my husband is NOT happy about my LLL discovery. Luckily for him all our money is joint, so I can't hide it from him, which in turn means that I have to hear it from him when I do get something new. He does not understand it at all.

And having somewhere like this blog to come to to get a better idea of the clothing fit and features, makes it really helpful to decide what I really want to spend my money on (which would be ALL of it if my funds were endless!), so for that, thank you luluaddict! :)

Agreed. We had a weight loss competition at work, although I didn't win I did treated myself with an Audrey jacket. Ever since then, I treat myself with every couple pounds lost. Expensive but at least the weight is still coming off!

I totally agree. These motivate me for my long runs. I;m a def. lulu addict. I actually have told my husband that I will sacrifice quality brand everyday clothes for lululemon. He totally loves it too. It is so good is so important in rewarding yourself. Lululemon makes that happen!
Also, I'm new to lululemon but if their clothes really last 5 years then that actually isn't expensive.

I love new pieces for exercising, it's absolutely motivating for me. Running in the rain is fun with my senorita pink Inspire Jacket!

Agree totally with everyone above. Looking good while working out gives you more energy. Feeling comfortable in your clothing (have it function the way you need it to) also helps keep you going stronger longer. And being able to dash out and about after working out while running errands and still look cute as a button is another bonus.

i love my lulu stuff for keeping me motivated. it helped a lot when my running esteem was low this summer, and it helps get me motivated and out the door now. the irony now is that i usually get up at 5am to run, so no one can see how cute i am since it's still dark out! i have enough right now that i'm trying to decide what i can really use and what's just extra that won't get used as much, and hence doesn't justify the price. still, it's all so cute! had i infinite funds, i'd have a serious collection on my hands!

Definitely motivated by looking nice at the gym -- makes you feel better about yourself and then work harder -- plus I love that if I get something that I don't love after a couple wears or just get bored with or gets too big -- I can unload it on ebay and get something else with my paypal bucks!!! Cant really say that about Nike or Under Armour or Zobha or Hardtail or whatever other brand-- I don't think any other brand has the resell value that LLL has
