I would think that the wool would make the luon pill.
I have a merino wool turtleneck that I ordered from ebay about a year ago - the fabric is beautiful!! It is very tightly woven, so you can't even tell it is made from wool, and is very soft and warm. I would definitely recommend the fabric, I've had no pilling issues with it so far.
I bet the made it with the intent you'd run in the Outward Bound or a luxtreme tight, neither of which would pill.
I had heard from an educator that they were going to put out some wool running items this season - and I'm so glad it's something cute! I have a merino Lulu hoodie from 2008-9 and the fabric is terrific. Super soft, no pilling, great for running in cold weather.
Wool is definitely a hot trend in technical running wear right now - nice to see that Lulu is keeping up with other running brands on this front. I hope they make this in Plum!
This is exciting! I wonder if I will get to see this in person before my Dash Pullover return window is up...
If it's 100% merino, there's probably no luon. Merino wool is a very fine gauge, soft, wool. Wool is great for moisture-wicking and temperature regulation, and it's antimicrobial. Patagonia and Smartwool have great merino wool baselayers (and I love Smartwool's socks for skiing & running).
Glad I didn't get the one that I was contemplating from Icebreaker...
Love it! I wonder what other colours it will be available in..
I have a merino wool tshirt that i wear running -- it's plum in color. It feels great to run in, but looks awful after you work out in it (sweat stains show up much more than on my luon - maybe it's just the plum color that shows the sweat so much).
I'm excited to see this!! If you get something from the icebreaker store (pdx) you have 90 days to return it if you are not happy with it!! I got done wool running gear last year from them & it was nice to have an "insurance policy" incase it didn't work out. It did, I love running in wool!
I bet the price of this top will be on the high end.
Can you machine wash it? Can you machine dry it?
Yes, I've put my lulu merino top in the washer with the rest of my lulu stuff, but I always lay flat to dry
I love wool workout gear. Particularly icebreaker undies :)
I would need this to be machine washable though.
Saw this in Black at Fashion Island. I think the price was 128. Looked very nice, but I see it more as a mid layer for skiers. I am not a big fan of running tops with hoods.
Drool** on the color. Am not sure I would use this for running but great for casual outerwear.
Ooooh. I think this would be very useful for me in the cold Edmonton winter to come. :)
I went to my local Lulu today but they definitely didn't have these yet, unfortunately. Like ChiRunner, I also hope these will be available in plum.
The hood may make it a bit itchy, and the price is too high for me I have bought too much already.
Anyone has had trouble with the new very violet color? Apparently it tends to bleed in the wash, the dye is not sticking to the garment.
Everyone worried about this being itchy - performance merino wool is supposed to be soft and not at all itchy.
Performance merino wool *should not* be itchy unless lulu has cheaped out on this item. I know SmartWool is not Lululemon, but SmartWool does wool activewear right - here's some info on wool from their site:

anonymous 3:46am:
Is it the run dash ls in the very violet that's bleeding? I bought the persimmon in the dash ls and was thinking about buying the very violet next but I might pass on it now. I know that the senorita pink swiftly tech ss were bleeding as well.
anon 12:39: Yes it was the run dashls. I have the wish blue and it washed without any problems.
