Run: Swiftly Techs Now Made in Sri Lanka

So the newest batch of Run: Swiftly Tech shirts are now being made in Sri Lanka. Previously they had been made in Israel by a company that is a leading manufacturer of engineered performance fabric. They make stuff for Patagonia and Nike, to name a few companies. People have noted that the newest batch of shirts doesn't seem as soft as the previous bunch. I felt up and tried on the latest bunch side by side with some older colors and couldn't tell a huge amount of difference. Sometimes a different feel can be attributed to the color/dye/print. I wonder if the fabric is still the same and the garment is being finished in Sri Lanka or if the fabric is also different. Comparing the Israel made shirt with the Sri Lankan in the store, the knit pattern looked identical. Anyone know? Anyone buy the new shirt and take it for a test workout? Does it breathe and wick the same? If I find anymore information I'll post it. The Swiftly Tech shirts are among my most favorite Lululemon tops.

Hi Luluaddict - I received my Wish Blue Swiftly LS in the mail yesterday, and I immediately wanted to write you about it. I'm glad you posted this, so I could tell you my thoughts! I could definitely tell the material felt different. I have two other swiftlys - a dark classic sport grey LS and a senorita/d.cl.sp.grey SS. The Wish LS material feels different - almost smoother. I think the new fabric is equally as soft as the older fabric, just smoother..almost like it has a sleek coating on it if that makes sense. I am hoping that this smooth coating means it won't snag as easily - maybe it's anti snag coating!

Also, the sizing is different than my dark classic sport grey LS. Both are size 6, but the new Wish one is slightly smaller. The length is about 1/2 inch shorter, and the sleeves are a good 2 inches shorter.. which is great for me, because I'm 5'2". If there were any left on the website, I would exchange it for an 8 (even though I'm a 4 in everything else at lulu!) But since there's not, I'll make due with the smaller 6.

LA - which color did you buy of the new batch, and which dyes have you noticed to feel differently? I haven't gotten to run in mine yet.. but will soon. I'll let you know how it turns out! I'm sure it will feel the same on... =)

I didn't buy any of the newest colors - I just didn't like them on me. I am on the hunt for a dark classic sport gray long sleeve. I know, impossible to get now that it's come and gone.

I saw these in store and felt them and also noticed the difference. I thought they felt thicker and not as soft/flexible. I tried them on and the violet in my regular size was a bit big. I am curious to see how they are to run/sweat in. I did not buy any from the new batch. I love all of my swiftlys because the fabric is so breathable and feels like nothing on my skin, but these new shirts definitely did not feel like that to me. I wonder if they will wick away sweat as well and dry as quickly.

I bought the wish & very violet from the newest batch. They felt the same as my lolo purple one when I compared them. Then I bought a teal zeal one that was made in Israel and it felt so much softer. I ended up having to return the teal zeal because there was a snag on it that I didn't see in the store. I am keeping the ones I have because they don't feel bad on. I have only worn them casually so I'm not sure if they are wicking the same as the others.

The one good thing about the different fabric is that I think it seems less fragile so maybe won't snag as easily but also won't be as soft and comfortable.

LA - The dark classic sports grey were on Ebay forever! You should have scooped one up.. darn it! I bought mine from the GEC.. have you tried them?

I just bought the DCSG one from the Israeli seller. This is the first time I have bought from him but he has ok feedback. We'll see how it is but I really wanted the dark gray one. It looks so nice with black pants and will go with my Run Reflection Vest in the Coal/Citron Ombre - I got that on markdown for $20.

If you take a look at the tag of the old one and compare it to the new one - the material composition is different. I don't have it infront of me. But if I remember correctly the new one does not have spandex and there were a few more differences in the % composition.

I just got my very violet swiftly today and sadly it doesn't feel the same at all. Like other people have mentioned, it's smoother, more slippery feeling and does seem like it would be less prone to snags. I don't have my old tag, but the new one is 58% nylon, 38% polyester and 4% x-static silver nylon and it has a different smell to it. But I love the colour and it still looks good on so I'm keeping it.

@ anon 8:53 am - Interesting about the new composition. I'll have to see if I can dig up a tag from an Israeli made top to get that composition to compare.
