OT- Ipod Nano Multi-Touch - Awesome For the Gym

Back in September I wrote that I wanted the new iPod Nano Multi-Touch for Christmas. My husband did get me one and I love it. I really like the small size, touch controls, and clip making an iPod pocket in my tanks and pants unnecessary. I really like the small size of this Nano and I usually clip it to my collar or strap on my tank. This Nano was definitely designed with gym goers/exercisers in mind. It has an FM tuner so you can tune in the TVs in your gym. It also has a pedometer but I haven't used that feature although my husband has. It also has a stopwatch and lap timer. I like the touch screen controls but sometimes I have make sure my fingers are dry to work it properly. I think the sound is a little more tinny than my iPhone but I found that is true of all the Nanos versus the Classic iPods. All in all, it's a great little iPod and if you are in the market you should check it out.

I really want this new Ipod. The month before it came out I got a free ipod nano with my computer purchase. I was happy to get a new one at the time until this one came out the next month. Needless to say, I can't justify buying another one but I can sure find a way to justify more Lulu, funny how that works. I'm glad you are enjoying yours.

LLA and fellow addicts... what case do you use for your iphone? I'm looking for something that protects well, is not bulky and looks good. I'll take reviews/opinions from anyone. Thanks ladies!

after many failed attempts with cases, I just bought the ipod nano touch. An iphone is just too bulky to work out with easily. And the ipod nano touch is the cost of a couple of cases. Plus, you don't have to worry about dropping your iphone or sweating on it and ruining it.

I would totally get this new Nano if I didn't buy the "gum stick" shuffle when it came out. I use that while running, it's tiny and I'm always afraid of losing it LOL
I agree about the clip, it is so handy. I also love the remote on the headphones, makes for pausing and changing songs easy. I have been slowly moving over to the Apple darkside. ;-)

I have the iPhone4 and love my Griffin Reveal Etch case I got free from Apple (their solution to the antenna problems.) Here's a link.

I dropped my iPhone while running on the treadmill, it about gave me a heart attack. I'm lucky I didn't trip over the earphone cord while it shot off the back end. My phone wouldn't turn on immediately afterwards (had to hard reset it) but the case looked like it was still brand new. LOL

I have this nano and the older shuffle that clips on. I'm trying to like this new one... when I'm running, it is harder to advance a song if i need to and the kicker is that it doesn't really turn off... it goes into standby mode for 36 hours... i've read a lot of complaints about this and the battery life. So, even though I have this one, I find myself grabbing my old $56 shuffle that has the turn wheel when I running. Sometimes simpler is easier.

I got this for my birthday in September, and I love all the features. I agree though that it is hard to change the song when you are mid-stride. I like the touch screen features, but wish I could advance songs by a button which would be easier to do without having to look at the screen.

How is the battery life on it?

I've just started using it, so I'm not sure. i'm not getting much use because I ran a half marathon with the nano and my song list wasn't up to par and i was wasting so much energy trying to see the touch screen to change songs. The shuffle is great, but you can only have one song list. With the nano, you can have as many song lists as you like. I've only been running and doing yoga, so the shuffle clip on has been the best for me. In a gym setting, the nano might be better.

I have an In Case Slider Case for my iPhone 3GS and a screen protective film on the glass. I usually use a nano for the gym because I am super paranoid about dropping my phone which I've done a few times.

To make changing songs easier while running, consider getting the Apple earphones with the remote. I love mine. They are pricey but I think well worth it.

I have this! I actually asked for it for my birthday in October after reading your post on here! I love it. I trained and ran two half marathons since I got it.. It's so lightweight and has lots more memory than my old Ipod!

Anon 9:55- Hopefully you don't run or exercise with your iPhone - besides being big ad bulky - that's an awfully expensive thing to risk losing or breaking. I personally have loved the "Speck Hard Candy" cover - combination of hard and soft casing.

As far as a what I use for music and running, I have been using an IPod shuffle for years. It's perfect I think for running and working out. It's lightweight, has a clip on it, and if you ruin it, you're only $50 out. I never look at what songs I'm listening to when running - so I don't need to "see" the music selection. I just put about 150 of my favorite running songs, put it on "shuffle" mode - and if a song comes on I don't want, I just press the next button. I typically clip it on the area in front of my skirt with the pocket, stuff the cord in there, then thread this up through the inside of my running bra, and then each ear piece wrapped 2 times around my bra staps on each side, then up to my ears (I ensure the cords are pushed down in my bra so you cant see them)!!!! Sounds complicated, but try it, it's a great way to keep them discrete and not bouncing around everywhere!!

I just ordered a pink one for myself after reading this post. Can't wait to get it.

Thanks for the case info ladies. No no, I wasn't looking to use my phone at the gym, just figured this might be a good place to get a few suggestions as I did. I'll look into the cases mentioned above. Much appreciated!

I have this and love it - my only wish is that it ran some apps - I just got the "Couch to 5K" app for my iPod touch and it would be perfect if I could run it on my nano.

Anyone have any recommendations for earphones or buds that stay in your ears? The apple ones never stay! I'm constantly adjusting!

Michelle Q - I have the same problem when running with my Apple earphones! I haven't bought them yet, but I hear SkullCandy (sold everywhere) are good. They come with three different sizes so you can pick which one fits your ears the best!

Earbud thoughts- I've tried really expensive earbuds and many brands, but have used my current earbuds for 8 months and they're perfect for me for running. Sony MDR-EX35LP/VB EX Style with Deep Bass sound. You can get them at Target or Amazon for $15.00. They stay in your ear, have good sound, cord is not too heavy... I bought several pairs of different earbuds at the same time, and these have worked best. I'll use them til I lose them or they die- then I'll get a new pair- $15 I can handle!!

To go along with this thread, does anyone have the Ipod + Nike? I am considering it and while I've read online reviews and such it's still nice to hear what people love and hate :)

You can put this iPod Nano on a band and it turns into a watch! It is the coolest thing and they make really fun colors!!! I love it! And I am waiting for my Nike+ to come so that I can attach the receiver for my workout. Although, the pedometer is a neat feature!
