Lululemon in Real Life - The Boston Marathon

Reader Baby Karrot from Boston sent in a ton of photos of ladies wearing Lulu at the Boston Marathon. I just love seeing how people mix and match their lulu in real life. This is what she writes:

I was watching the boston marathon today (at Kenmore square, which is the 25th mile) from 12:30pm - 2:30pm and realized that I was seeing SO MUCH lulu.  I started taking photos of these amazing beautiful women, and compiled them into collages.  If you think the people being photographed wouldn't mind, please post them!  A lot of them were very creative with their outfits, mixing and matching knee socks, tutus, etc. -- super, super cute!  Sorry, a lot of the images are blurry or are from behind (had to check for the logo!).  These women were running pretty fast.  I figure they must have been running at a 3:00-5:00 hr marathon pace.  It was a huge inspiration to me, and I'd love to run it myself someday.  They aren't in any particular order, but I did make some effort to group the photos (speed shorts, ikat, unicorn tears, etc).

Lots of Unicorn Tears Print at the Marathon

A Power V? That's going back quite aways.

Ikat made a good showing at the Marathon, too.

The top left looks like the brand new Heathered Sand Dune Scoop Neck.

Luon is too hot to run in, shorts are oka but anything else too warm.

Awesome pictures and congrats to all the tough ladies who qualified and/or ran! Such an achievement.

And I think this post disproved an earlier comment that serious runners don't wear lulu!

wow, & i thought you actually had to qualify as an athlete to run in Boston. R these women raising $$ for charity??? save for a couple, looks more like a lulu fashion show to me!

man, what's up with some of the haters on here! jeesh--it's a marathon...26 miles...qualified or raising $ for charity, all of these women are ROCKSTARS! did the Lulu-eaing women look great doing it? hell's yes! did all the other non-Lulu wearing women look great doing it? hell's yes! by the end, they're all one big sweaty mess who accomplished a phenomenal thing~be proud and support these folks~don't hate on 'em!

totally misunderstood, absolutely NO hate here. agreed that they all accomplished a tremendous feat. just missing the dignity and grace of my personal hero Grete Waitz, whose style was admittedly very "un-lulu"
truly no offense intended, just a little nostalgic for the time i ran these streets.

I love wearing Lulu to run but i am confounded by the power Y's! I am a small chest and I can only use power Y for yoga and spin - no running!

Power Y is my go to running top. I wear mine pretty tight, maybe if you size down you could run in it. I am very small chested also. I don't think it would work if I was bigger.

love the montage!

Love it! Thanks for putting together such a cool montage.

CONGRATS to everyone who ran Boston. I was there are Heartbreak Hill and have to say that watching the marathon beats any other sport to watch.

And I totally remember seeing a couple of these amazing ladies-- the woman in the coal strata stripe bra and matching shorts. Oh god, I'm such a Lulu dork.

Finally, to the person who took digs at ladies wearing Lulu-- besides the fact that your comment was tacky, I fail to see how raising money for charity has anything to do what you wear. Do you have to dress like a pauper to be qualified to do good deeds? That's crazy talk.

Wow, what is with all the haters commenting on the blog lately? Must be jealous of ladies qualify for the Boston Marathon *and* look stylish while running it. Not getting it. Is this attitude from "real" runners? I hate sport snobs. I used to get that vibe when I was into cycling. All about your frames and rims and gear set. Ugh. Go away.

@ anon 1:03 pm - The Power V used to dig into my shoulders/neck. I don't know why I ever bought that over the Power Y but it was one of my first tanks and I was a lulu novice. ;-)

Luluaddict: It is not haters for the Boston Marathon, kudos to those who qualified, it is for the Lulu running apparel. You need balance of opinion on your blog the good and the bad right?

Anonymous said...

^ ah no. no need for haters.

Love this post, better to sport sylish lulu than baggy Nike tempo shorts and ill fitting tops.

Lulu shorts & tanks make me look good and fly like the wind. Thanks BabyKarrot for capturing this & posting. Anyone who's ever run Boston knows - you have to qualify for a reason. xo
