New
Riding Jacket. I can with 100% confidence state that my bank account is safe from this purchase. Coming in sizes 4-12. This is one of my favorite comments regarding this jacket:
I wonder what they were breathing in deeply when designing this...
PS - These photos are from a US store. The new Dash tanks are now hitting the US. I'll have more photos of those.

Honestly lulu?!! WTH? Ugly!
yes I am SAFE too! lol, trying to compete with Roots for the equestrian market?!? Didn't the lab have a riding jacket last year? thanks for the smile, Ellen
Oh, thats from one of my local stores in northern VA! I'm going there after work as its right down the street from my office. I will NOT be purchasing that jacket though.
What tank is that in the top photo?
That is the mullet of jackets. It's kind of cute from the back - I think it could have been cute overall if the peplum was in the front as well and maybe a little less full (though it would probably be totally worthless for athletic activities).
The Riding Jacket from the lab was really cute - I wonder why they didn't just produce that one?
@ ChiRunner - Mullet of jackets indeed. The front is very cute but the poofy back dooms it.
My $$ is safe too.
I'm glad to hear dash tanks are in the US - I really want to get one.
what. the. hell.
uhhh..NOT! Too much fabric in the back, too..not a very flattering look. This is definitely a pass for me.
"I wonder what they were breathing in deeply when designing this" says it all. Yikes!!!
From Lulu's tag:"why we made this".
WHY, indeed!
I think it is interesting they decided to go so literal with the design - you could create a "riding" jacket per se, with maybe a little less obvious equestrian look...
I kind of like it... It looks like something Kate Middleton would wear.
With the success of the Define Jacket and In Stride, I can appreciate that they wanted to mix it up. After all, if they were to restrain creativity of the designers, I doubt we would have many of the favorites that many lulu fans love. After all, people, you can only have so many Define's, scuba's and Stride's. It's great to take a risk!!!
Okay - the Riding Jacket may not be for everyone however in my city it is selling out the day it is put on the floor. IMHO it is GORGEOUS. The best jacket Lulu has come out with since the Cotton Roadsters ten years ago. It is really flattering on and multi-functional. I will teach, cycle, play and work wearing this. I loved it so much, I bought two. I am tired of the same old, same old safe designs. Lulu took a risk on this one and I commend them for it.
Very functional for actual riding. The "peplum" as you call it, covers your bum in the saddle. It flips up over the cantle of a close contact English saddle. It will keep the wind / dirt / moisture from your lower back. Gloves can go over the thumbhole sleeves. I don't think it was designed for "cuteness" and maybe not even for street wear. A close fitting, elegant profile is important for equitation, and reveals the rider's posture - in the saddle. Do any of you actually ride?
