More Photos of the Ahead of the Curve Jacket (and mini Try On Report)

After all the hilarity we had yesterday at the Expense of the Ahead of the Curve jacket, it's actually not that bad a jacket. I got a chance to try it on today when I had to exchange my husband's shirt for a black one. The fit is true to size and it comes in the pretty Royalty Shale Stripe (pictured above). The pleats puffed out a bit too much over my bedonkadonk rear but I didn't think it was hideous. If the pleated portion had not been so much longer than the front, I might have liked the jacket a lot more. I think a certain type of person can probably carry this jacket off (taller, thinner?) but it's not for me (at full price anyway).

PS - Oh yeah, I should add I am not a fan of the ruffles at the zipper. This jacket has enough going on it doesn't need the extra embellishment and it takes away the impact of the pretty Shale Stripe pattern.

I haven't seen this in person yet, but I agree LLA, the ruffle at the zip doesn't look right. The soft ruffly bit is in contrast to the graphic look of the shale stripe.

Prints look the same as what they used last year. Something is off with their designers - or should I say , they need to get new designers there.

So boring and blahhhh

@anon 2:09, ITA!! There is nothing new that lulu is putting out, same colours (purple, gray purple, blue purple, static black, mauve purple).
They are bringing back old blah designs (dash tank, inspire jacket, harem pants to name a few), they made nothing new this past summer for running other than the weightless singlets. I think they need to get some new designers, and bring some new fresh colours into the mix.

Fresh new colors AND designs! I want some pretty girly prints...

Enough with the stripes, mold, and splatter prints! Give us some fun florals or something colorful!

Bring back the hustle jacket, please!

What's the point in even paying designers to just re-release new colors or different colors of what was already in past seasons? It's like they just pick random old pieces from the past out of a hat and slap on this seasons colors... because I know that a lot of the items (esp. harem pants) didn't do well in the first place so this must be the only logical reasoning...

I'm all for Re-releasing, so why don't they re-release something fabulous like the gratitude wrap ( probably their best seller). They could easily tweak it a little bit to make it fresh and exciting for this year. That's my two cents.

I agree. I have only become an addict this past year & alreedady all I see are re releases. And higher prices on the same items. Lulu had such a wonderful reputation & it is slowly going down hill & in my short experience, nothing close to what people said LULU quality & style was like. In fact, some of the new things are down right bad. Looks like they never tried them on real woman before they sent to to production

I love how the model looks thoroughly unimpressed by having to model this fugly jacket.

Eek, I don't know what the deal is with these awful 'tail' things! I think this would be terribly unflattering to anyone with any junk in the trunk! Plus it's just odd-looking. Not a fan, and it's too bad because it's otherwise a really cute jacket! I love the shale print.

And agreed, where are the fun prints?!? They used to make the coolest prints in the Remix hoodies, and they would release a limited number of each, which was great - I hate going to the mall and seeing 5 other people wearing an identical hoodie to mine...

i hate that peacock crap on the back for jacket! why can't they bring Hustle jacket back???

I had a dream last night that I checked your blog and lulu had come out with a gorgeous new green CRB....does that officially mean I'm an addict!?

Let's just hope its a premonition ;)

I need to try this on... I do think the jacket is ugly in the photo- but I wonder if the tail would actually be flattering? I'm always looking for my bum to be covered when leaving class. I really don't like my backside exposed in spandex on public transportation- it feels too out there.

oops- not spandex- luon :D

Seriously, that jacket is nothing but ugly. It's completely unflattering on that girl from both the front and the back. I recently got on the Lulu bandwagon, and am seriously considering getting the heck off. The late summer stuff has been absolutely terrible. Nothing but boob bearing tanks, coats with tails, and mumu's. Oh, and price hikes. I'm sorry, I love the quality of Lulu, but I just can't understand how in the 3 months that I've been shopping here, prices have already gone up. Not impressed at all. :(

I agree with you, Stephanie.
In the last few months, I've noticed the quality isn't what it used to be, either. I'm noticing a lot of hanging, loose, or extra threads. I'm one of those people that's OCD about how I wash my Lulu, too, so I don't think it's how I'm washing it:-( I think I'm going to have to take a Lulu hiatus for awhile-between quality issues, price hikes, and in general, just being sick of seeing riding pants, harem pants, and ruffle tails over and over again!

HOPEFULLY all of this baffling dullness from lululemon is only a nice build up to some amazing fall/winter items. I can only hope for it, because it seems like they are really falling down on their game. I, for one, would love a crb with a heart neckline...and maybe FINALLY some reds and greens! Ruby red! A deep emerald green! Enough with the berries, blues, and grays!

Green & yellow!! Where are the greens, oranges & yellows? They're ignoring a whole section of the colour wheel. Stop the static/heathered crap!!

I also would love ruby reds and greens. Oranges and yellows would be nice too, if they were the right kind for my pasty complexion. I am actually fond of ruffles on many of the lulu items, but for the jacket in the picture. It's too much with the shale pattern.

The Run For Your Life Tank was a nice new tank design. I also liked the It's a Cinch Dress a lot but I agree with you guys. So much of the same stuff in the same colors over and over again. I, too, am bored with lulu and am waiting and hoping for some new wow designs.

I am in complete agreement with many others here...boring colors, odd styles, and quality issues. I own an amazing amount of older Lululemon but have not purchased anything from them lately and don't plan to until...1) Quality matches price point. 2) Styles improve. 3) More beautiful colors are offered. Something is going very wrong with their business. Perhaps greed is to blame.
