Comparison of New Ariel Tank to Previous Version

A very interesting photo showing the disparity in sizes between the new Ariel tank, shown in Black Swan, versus the previous version, shown in Power Purple (I believe) on the right. (Thanks to Nancy Q. for this photo.) Both tanks are the same size yet are markedly different. One good thing is that it looks like the bra portion is taller. I remember spilling out over the top of the previous version so having a more roomy bra portion is a significant improvement. However, the length looks about three inches longer. I don't recall the previous Ariel being overly short but Lululemon has been making the latest tanks, such as the Spin Me and Active Strength, very long. I'm 5' 5 1/2" with probably normal to slightly long torso and I find most of lulu's tanks hit me at the same spot they do on the model. I seem to remember reading that lulu's designs are aimed at women 5' 6" tall so it's not like I am outside their ideal demographic height.  I don't really care for tanks that go past my crotch and I hate to have my tanks hemmed but I may have to change my tune on that.

I hope they use the contrasting trim colour again - how cute would this tank have been in black swan with lilac or ghost coloured trim?? I'd also love to see the light pink (sweet tart pink?) with paris pink trim... Mmmm!

I'm so surprised by the possibility that Lulu's clothes are aimed at women 5'6" tall...that's quite tall for the average woman. I'm 5'8", and cannot wear most of their regular pants because they're too short, and so you might assume I would like these longer tanks. Truth is, I find the tanks are just getting too long. They look and feel sloppy to me.

I agree about the length of the tanks - I even find the CRB to be a little long for me. Oh, and I am 5' tall. It is bad enough I have to hem my pants, I don't want to have to worry about hemming tanks as well, especially with the closest store being 300 miles away.

I love the longer tanks- they give me more coverage for my problem areas and really flatter, plus I never worry they will ride up during yoga. I am 5'5" and the long tanks are my favorites.

I am 5' 6" with a crazy long torso and I love the longer lengths. I can't wear the scoopneck, power y, push ur limits, define jacket, scuba, etc because they are way too short on me. I guess everyone is built differently.

anon 927am again; I forgot to mention too, the Spin Me is a bit too short on me. Crazy, I know! I am only 5' 6"!

I suppose it is nice that they have something for different body types. I am 5'2" and found the Power Technique very long on me. It was something that I would definitely need to hem.

I'm 5'3" and many of their tops are super cute but much too long (past the crotch). I know there are some styles you can hem (assuming you live near a store which I don't) but others interfere with the design (I have a Dash tank and hemming it would cut off the iPod holder). It would be awesome if they made petite styles ... I'd be all over that!

I think the comments on this post are a perfect example of the "you just can't please everyone" thing.

Every woman's body is different, and every one of those women have different personal tastes. With every item it will fit some women perfectly and some women, not so much. (ditto with personal tastes).

Lulu (and all clothing companies) just have to mix it up so that they have enough variety in their current stocks that they have at least SOMEthing for everyone at any given moment.

Agreed, Anon 10:23! I love the longer lengths- even got an extra long CRB. I recall many on here did not care for it. And those harem pants! Still can't get over them, I think they are hideous. But they are working for someone out there! One thing I got bad with in the recent past was buying tanks because I liked the design rather than how they actually looked on me. I feel badly for people that do not have the opportunity to try on the tanks in store.

Exactly. As someone who is 5'2 stated that they can't wear many of the tanks, I am 5'1 and I love the long length of the tanks with crops. Everyone is different and everyone likes different stuff.

Omg! I wasn't planning on getting this, but now I am. I'm 5'8 with a long torso, so I am loving these longer lengths. Yay!

@ anon 10:23 - I think lulu really needs to add a few styles, particularly the core styles, in petite lengths/sizes. I know they can hem the pants but the proportions are all off for Grooves if you hem them for a 5' tall woman. Athleta and Lucy carry petites. Lulu should do the same.

just purchased today Currant scoop neck & scuba and define. LOVE this color. It is so vibrant! also got the colorful multi stripe scuba as well. AND I couldn't resist the Currant swiftly tee......

Since lululemon doesn't cater to us petite women, I am glad that the Ivivva line will be available soon in the U.S.

I can't do the tops that are longer than mid hip length. I'm also 5ft 5 1/2 but i have a narrow bust compared to my "Baba Hips" (as I refer to them) and am atleast one full size bigger in the bottom than on top.

When I mentioned this to the educator she said that there she was in the same boat but that she had noticed that lots of women had been asking for something longer and thought this was lulu's way of responding to those requests.
