Photos: It's Happening Jodhpur Pant

Do I really need to say anything here?

Some photos of the new Jodhpur pant I spotted in the store last night. These are black but the ones I saw last night were heathered charcoal or heathered coal. It doesn't look nearly as bad in black but I still don't think these pants are doing anything special for this girl. They are probably comfortable but they certainly aren't figure enhancing at all. What woman wants to add volume to her thighs?

Bwhahaha!!! I predict this goes straight to loot.

wtf lately it seems like lulu designers are drinking the "add a pocket" kool aid...

Anonymous said...

how much are they???

This girl was so brave to model these. You know the girls at her store probably "rock, paper scissored" over who would do it. She's adorable but those pants are awful!

And seriously lulu, when are you going to learn? Go look at loot. If they look like something that's been in there forever, you probably should scratch the idea.

ick. I cant see wearing these. not functional or good looking. kinda like a diaper. between the runny dyes and ho hum styles, I'm just not seeing anything I want to spend $$$ on. Lulu, whats up? I have a holiday $300 gift card, and nothing to buy :(
is it me, or is the quality and style, not what is used to be?

These look identical to the harem pants.

I bought a pair of the crops on sale for $19 and oh my goodness I wish I would have bought more. Don't get me wrong, I will NEVER wear these in public but the comfort is amazing. And the fact they are luxtreme means they don't get pet hair all over them. Seriously, so comfortable!

I don't know about these new ones or the harem pants, but the harem crops are amazing!

HORRIBLE and UGLY.
Another money saver.

I would love to add some volume to my thighs....harems rock! and I think this model looks amazing...

I also think she looks great-- it's nice to see someone not afraid to wear something different! This pair may be easier to wear, since there isn't so much extra fabric. I'll try them!

@ Yogabody, she's probably not wearing them because she's "not afraid to wear something different," she's probably wearing them because someone wanted a product photo. LOL

If money wasn't an option, I might buy these pants to meditate in- they do look comfortable- but, oh so unflattering for my body type!

I wonder if Chip Wilson was pushed out/left over quality control and design disagreements.

Yesterday in class I was dressed identically head to toe in lulu with another woman. Again. I mean, this is certainly not the fault of the company, and I realize I don't have exclusive rights to wear it ;) But it is just one more thing to lessen the appeal.

Bleeding issues. Again.

Price increases.

Bad customer service.

I think I am going to branch out a little and experiment with some other companies. I love lulu, but what I loved was the quality of the items, and felt they justified the expense.

I'll still check out lulu when new items come, but I do not spend my $$$ indiscriminately. Lately I've been looking but not buying. I will buy lulu only when I am in love with the item and the quality is there.

When will Lululemon look at the customer comments and learn? How many people are wanting lined Dance Studio pants? How many people are wanting jodhpurs? We don't need those unless you are starting an equestrian line. It's the sort of thing that some people can 'get away with' but I don't think anybody will look 'Wow!' in these.

Last week we all thought the B team was designing the product...they've been clearly replaced by the C team. These are so ugly. I'm a lulujunkie - I will not go near these....Is there no new ideas for great stuff??

Well said, MonkeyGirl.

I don't get it either. Certainly not my look, but as I was shopping on Saturday I overhead a woman tell her husband "ohhh, look at these jodhpurs. Cute!" so I guess some people like them. Hmmm. She had not tried them on yet though :)

I agree with Monkey Girl. Well said.
I also have been looking, but not spending. I am being very, very picky about what I buy and have not bought anything in a long time. My closet is filled with lulu but with the latest dye problems, quality issues, crazy price increases (they are just being greedy now on some items, seriously), website issues and customer service, I am starting to look elsewhere and branch out.

Response to Anon 5:41:
I meant in general, it's nice to see someone (in class, real life etc)wearing something different than everyone else and 'owning' it. If its a product shot, they chose a great model IMO. I think it's great that Lulu gives those of us that like to be different, a choice. You know, something for everyone. :-)

Wow...I bet my thighs could fill out those pants if I sized down.

What on earth are they thinking?

Anonymous said...

No one said anything about the model. Just the pants.

I think stills and relaxed fit pants are horribly unflattering as well.. At least these look fashion forward.

erica said...

i think the stills and relaxed fit pants look terrible on most people, too!

i would wear these around the house, but you could find something similar for much less at h&m.

for the most part, i buy lulu technical wear, not its casual stuff.

I actually think stills look great. As long as you size down so they are more fitted on the bum and waist I think they look great. Let's put it this way---if I want something loose and comfy would I rather look like I'm wearing baggy sweats (stills) or a diaper (these/harems etc)??

I guess it just depends on the person.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:21-- might was well stock up on some still pants then because they are being discontinued as of this spring. I am all for harem pants and crops!

After spending the last two summers in Eastern Europe I absolutely hated the "low crotch" pants everybody was wearing (and still is). But a Swedish friend of mine brought me a pair of camo "low crotch" workout pants made by an Italian company called Freddie Athletic and I absolutely love them. The "dropped crotch" is very popular in athletic and dance wear over there right now.

The have to be cut right though and Lulu hasn't quite yet got it right, although they were close with the pair from this past Xmas season....I forget the name but I bought them in black.

As anon 12:44 said, fashion forward. And I'll bet a handful of the haters are going to be loving them before the year is over!

Personally I'll be giving them a try on. I think the key is that the waistband has to be worn low on the hips.

Off topic, i would love to c lulu do an animal print like cheetah or leopard it would look good in the grooves or wu`s

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:47-- I should have stocked up when they were in clearance but I didn't (the stills). Now they are all back at full price at my local stores (the discount stickers have been removed). Now that I know they are being discontinued I'll cave and pay, but it's really annoying.

Thank's for the heads up though!

Fashion forward? Really? I must be out of the loop. Either that or I somehow missed the poopy diaper spread in last month's Vogue! Seriously, where are you ladies getting your fashion information?!?

Anonymous said...

Yeah I think you are out of the loop! Drop crotch pants have been very popular among many people who would consider baggy shapeless sweats to be unattractive. These jodhpurs don't even have a noticeable drop crotch. Not everyone wants to wear skin tight figure enhancing clothing. Not all lululemon customers want to wear define jackets and leggings. If your thighs fill out the jodhpurs, they probably aren't for you. I can see a lot of girls at my gym wearing these pants. I won't be buying these, and they'll probably end up in loot, but I would rather see some diversity in offerings even if they don't succeed in pleasing the majority than see things bleed, pill, unravel, or snag.

Anonymous said...

Ok totally off topic so sorry, but I am in desperate need of the lilac scuba in an 8. I don't have Facebook so not sure where to find one. nothing on ebay or kijiji. Ideas? Thank you!

Harem pants are in style currently. Maybe these aren't the nicest pair but I think harem pants ca look cute.

Sorry but ....In style? According to whom? The lulu designer who ran out of ideas and dreamed this one up? You don't exactly see celebs leaving the gym in these, either. I'll take old school sweatpants any day over the carnival jodhpurs.

Yogabody said...

Thank you Lululemon for offering a variety of styles so that EVERYONE can find something they enjoy wearing and find stylish!

Anonymous said...

Yes, it's nice to see lulu making new and different items. HOWEVER, I would prefer they focus on items that don't bleed, don't pill, a better website, more consistent pricing, and better customer service BEFORE they branch out to items that may or may not be "fashion forward" or end up in loot next month.

Anonymous said...

I don't mind these. The more I look at them the more I think they'd be fun just to lounge in. I really hope the pink/black reversible WU's are uploaded tonight!

Anonymous said...

Where the heck is the upload. I'm tired! C'moooon upload!

I think it's good they offer fashion forward stuff for people who want them but honestly, I buy my lulu to work out in. Do I need to be a fashionista at the gym? First and foremost, to me, it has to function. You're not going to be spinning in dropped crotch pants. You are not going to be running in dropped crotch pants. People always talk about how they have five or six year old Groove pants they still wear when they first started buying lulu. The Grooves are a classic style and you can spin, run, do yoga in them. $118 Jodhpurs are trendy now but will look dated in a few years. I don't have unlimited funds so I have to be practical with my lulu budget. Jodhpurs aren't practical. The No Limit tank was kind of fashion forward when it came out but it's also quite practical. It's got to be a balance of fashion of function. The jodhpurs fail on the functional part for me.
