Luxtreme Deep Indigo Bleeding

Two different women have posted photos of their new Deep Indigo striped tanks bleeding / experiencing color transfer. This photo is of two tanks. The top is the Dance Strap tank and the bottom is the strap on the Aquamarine Swift Tank. The tanks were like this when this woman received her new tanks in the mail - they hadn't even been worn.

This photo is from a different woman and is of the Dance Strip tank after a hot power fusion yoga class. She also had bleeding on the back portion, too.

This is unacceptable.

Absolutely unacceptable. I'm convinced this color transfer issue is the reason why lulu makes everything 'heathered' these days. To dilute the intensity of thr color in hopes that it won't bleed. Even my 'cheap' workout gear doesn't bleed!

Has anyone tried using the Shout Color Catcher sheets? I haven't used them before but I see the commercials all the time, makes me wonder (:

Color catcher sheets can't hurt.

I don't know why lulu is having these issues. This just makes the pool of potential items I buy from lulu that much smaller. Also, lulu used to make luxtreme items without bleeding so what has changed now? Go back to your old vendor/old recipes. They used to make clothes that didn't have problems so time to figure out what is going wrong now.

This is sickening! I just bought my first striped items, Discovery Stripe CRB and the Aquamarine Discovery Stripe Stride. I was saving them for spring. I am going to be sick if the indigo bleeds out on the other colors!! These clothes are sooo expensive, this should NOT be happening!! I could quit buying but darn, it's so hard!! These are the most comfortable clothes I have come across for the gym. I work out every day which justifies me (in my mind! lol) spending the money on the stuff and I can wear a lot of things casually, which also makes me feel better about the money. But this continuous bleeding issue...ugh!

lululemon sucks. Really? none of my Pearl Izumi, Patagonia, Zohba, Zella stuff bleeds. And why is it my fault when it does?

Yep, so get this I wore my paris pink energy bra (after washing 3 times) underneath my black cool racerback (for about an hour just to a weight lifting class) and so much color was still bleeding that it bled through my black crb onto my gray towel that i lay on my bench for chest presses. It's pretty embarrassing and ridiculous. I also have to say that the bra still bleeds onto my skin and I have to actually use a scrub to get it off as my luffa won't cut it!

Oh for f*#$'s sake.

This is an example of how Lululemon is cutting costs. They are taking shortcuts and not having the colors set properly into the fabric. These items are clearly defective and the return period should not be applied, I don't care how long I've owned an item that does this, it should NEVER happen. I would encourage everyone to take a hard line with Lululemon if they don't accept your returns. I wouldn't take no for an answer and I would make a big deal out of it in the store in front of customers, ask to speak to the manager immediately and go higher if the manager is not responding appropriately. For those who buy on-line, I would threaten to contact my credit card company to void the transaction if Lululemon does not immediately offer to refund. It is absolutely unacceptable to pass this problem off to the consumer based on hideous return deadline.

I really think these photos should be posted on their FB wall where others can see and it's more public.

Can anyone comment on the DSP in indigo? How had the color been on them? I haven't taken the tags off mine and am not sure I will now...

I agree totally!! I was asking a girl questions about a product and she didn't know what she was talking about and hung up on me!!! wow i couldn't believe it! I've noticed that when a company gets too big everything starts to go down hill????

Anonymous said...

I had paris pink stuff and a flash bra that bled after I washed it. I took it back and explained and the girl was super nice and apologized and let me exchange it for new product, no questions asked. They told me that if it happens again to bring it back. I don't understand why some of you are having problems with returning it. what stores are you shopping at??

Such a shame. Us lulu addicts have been pretty loyal, but the company is going to realize that if they don't go back to their older, higher standards of quality they are going to lose us. It may take awhile, I know I for one do not want to give up on a brand I like so much, but c'mon. We are loyal, not stupid. I have spent much less on lulu since the PP bleeding fiasco- normally I would have been all over anything in that color, but I only bought one item. Didn't touch indigo, although I liked it. Now second guessing dazzling. Obviously, this is an unnecessary problem as my other (cheaper!) workout gear in bright colors does not bleed. They are cutting corners at the expense of their customers.

I returned my DSPs in indigo because they looked saturated. Liked them a lot, but I didn't want to have to baby them. I haven't had any problems with an colors in luon, but some of the other things worry me a bit.

Couple things I'm eying right now - anybody have feedback on the Cross Your Heart bra in Flash or the Turn Around LS in Paris Pink?

i'm not surprised since Lululemon is now making everything cheaper and low grade but raising their prices?!?!?!?! I used to shop every single week sometimes twice a week at Lululemon. Not anymore and I now ONLY look at markdowns.

I was able to return my paris pink run turn around LS no prob. No matter how many times I washed this, I could not get the bleeding to stop! They gave me store credit for the full retail cost.

I haven't had any trouble returning snything for quality issues at my store but when I returned my hustle jacket in pp before it was common knowledge I posted my awful bleeding pictured on the lulu Facebook page I got no response and it was deleted from the wall the next day.

I, too, had bleeding issues with the PP run turn around. I prewashed it 3 times, and it was still bleeding. I took it back to my store and they immediately gave me a gift card for the full cost, even though I no longer had my receipt. My experience has been generally very positive at my local store, but I have occasionally encountered a few sales girls who are a bit snitty when I have a return. What a joke, given the money I've spent there over the past year.

This is why I bought nothing in discovery stripe

Anonymous said...

Anon 3:28 I must have washed my PP run turn around ls not less than 10 consecutive times, before the water came out clear. This shirt bled like nothing I have had before in my life! I have never worn it nor returned it, as I am in Europe and shipping it back to the US would cost me just about what I paid for it.

I buy a fair amount of Champion's C9 line from Target (to balance out my Lulu purchases!), and I've never had an issue with them bleeding, and I buy some pretty bright colors. It's disappointing that Lulu has not fully addressed this issue and that they continue to release clothing that bleeds like this. Honestly, I haven't had clothes bleed in YEARS...I thought that was a thing of the past??

Just bought the extra long crb in this same indigo/white stripe, do you think the luon will bleed also? I'm afraid to take the tags off now :/

FYI luxtreme doesn't hold dye as well as luon - so it is more likely to bleed ;-)
My DSP's in deep indigo haven't bled - I just wash with other "dark lulu" items - black crbs, scoops, grooves etc.
I was told that the bleeding is happening bc the dye interacts with some people's pH on their skin and sweat by and educator at a store. That's why some people have it worse than others.

Re: bleeding and skin PH -- I have never worn my PP Energy bra and I can't get it to stop bleeding when I soak it in water. Planning to return. Hope it's true I'll be able to.

Anon 7:04, if that is true, then I need to wear gloves next time I receive my lululemon purchases, so I can safely remove the tags and put it into the washer without the tip of my fingers coming in contact with the fabric. That's the only way to be sure my pH won't disturb the dye in the fabric.
I'm the one who washed her Paris Pink Run: Turn Around ls about ten times upon receiving it. I don't even know who it fits me, because I never even tried it on. Still, it bled copiously!

Any bleeding with the discovery stripe CRB? Bought it yesterday but nervous to wear/take the tags off

The PH thing is such a cop-out. They need to stop cutting corners, especially for such expensive type items! AND they need to stand behind their products. Rei and Patagonia I can return anything at anytime, no questions asked! They just want me to be a happy customer and continue to use and enjoy their products. I also have been using Targets Champion sports bras. I have MANY VIBRANT COLORS (hot pink, neon green ect) and never had any issues with bleeding. I love lulu, but they need to get it together.

I believe Athleta has a similar return policy too...if you wear it, and it turns out to be unacceptable, you return it to them and they say "I'm so sorry! Of course we'll take it back." Lululemon should take a page from them. I would spend more money with Lulu if I had a guarantee like that.

Anonymous said...

The PH reason sounds believable, until you take into account that people's indigo items are coming out of the packaging already bleeding. Was it the PH of the bag? The person at the warehouse doing the packaging? Regardless, even if it is a PH issue, people shouldn't have to buy an item, wear it and pray that their body's PH won't cause bleeding.

As for Color Catchers, it's not effective with items like the indigo striped products because they are bleeding while they're being worn, not just in the wash. How is the Color Catcher going to help if the top is bleeding as the person is wearing it?

I think it's fairly clear that something has changed in the production method as one thing that could always be relied on from Lululemon was colour fastness.

I can't believe that people have had problems getting refunds for these faulty items. I have been trying to find out why Lululemon still does not have any European stores (whenever I have made enquiries my question is ignored) and now I am beginning to wonder if it has anything to do with tighter Consumer regulations over here.

Just bought a cool racerback in discovery stripe, didn't pre wash and wore it to Zumba. No issues at all.

I know I'm chiming in a little late but I bought the Dance Strap Tank with the navy and white stripes and haven't had this problem. I tend to sweat a lot when I workout and have washed it many times (always in cold water and I dry it flat on a rack). I hope they have a generous enough return policy when it comes to defects like this. Whenever folks leave comments on the site with quality problems a Lulu rep always suggests taking the item to a store or contacting their customer service for help. I'm not sure what the resolution usually is but hopefully an exchange or credit is offered. At the price we're paying you'd expect that!
