More Cycling Line Photos

Presta Jersey and Padded Cycling Shorts
Shirket, Skirt, and short bike shorts (?)

Now you're talking! It took lulu a couple of seasons of dullness but I really, really like the look of this year's cycling line. The top photo is of the long padded shorts (I wonder if those can be hemmed shorter or if they have the gripper strip at the bottom that negates that) and the bottom photo seems to indicate there is also a shorter bike short.

Do you think lulu will come out with bike shorts that are not padded? Like the take flight biker shorts?

If only I were a cyclist! I am a liability on my beach cruiser so clipped in is a scary thought lol. Love this stuff :)

On a different note I saw that there is a headband in "orange glow" Did I miss the boat on this color or is it going to be a new release? I hope it is because I need some orange in my life!

Do you know when the stores are supposed to get this line in? (Esp. in Chicago?)

@Nicole... I got the orange glow skinny satin pirouette about a month ago at a store by accident. Did not know what it was. I bought it coz it was pretty and new to me.

@ Pink Peony: Thanks! I wonder if it's meant to be paired with Dazzling? Hmmmmm...

I'm sorry as a cyclist I will not be caught dead in a single item of this capsule. The shorts are too long, there will be side boob popping out of the tank, it's way too hot to be wearing a long sleeve anything in the summer, and lastly, who wears a skirt on a bike????? WTF! Why in the world would they design a skirt to wear over shorts? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, cycling kits are supposed to be areo dyanmic, not wind catching. I would have thought with them sponsoring the womens Specialized team that maybe, just maybe they could have come out with a decent cycling line. Yet they have failed again. My money will be going to cycling companies who know what they're doing

Just saw a photo on FB of Bruised Berry WUC!!!

The cycling line was being placed on the racks in Denver CO this afternoon. Looked cute from what I could see but I'm not a cyclist and was busy trying to hunt down a bruised berry CRB (no luck there....) The only new items Denver received today were the cycling ones.

That back pocket on the biking shirt in the second photo is bad Placement of that pattern! Totally says diaper to me! Love the shorts though. Might get it for spin classes!

@anon 4:21 - bruised berry wuc!?!? Where at? I'm hoping for them on tonight's upload:)

A majority of the pics seem to be from the Lululemon in Palo Alto, CA. So drive on over and try the line out!

OH I should've said, hop on your bike and cruise on over...

speaking of wunder under crops - can anyone confirm that the new crops all have triangular gussets? compared to the more oval/diamond shaped gussets of the past which seem to be more frontally flattering if you know what I mean? Anyone with indigos, ray, power purple able to compare? I would love a bruised berry or neonpow pair but I love that old gusset

As a cyclist, I will also be passing up on this collection - the ls jersey/jacket looks sort of cute, but at 138$ (?), I can do better. As for the knee length shorts, when did that ever sound like a good idea?!? Even as a leggy 5'9 woman, I have to go to great lengths to find bike shorts that hit at the right spot - and I can tell you that right above the kneecap is not a good look on anyone. Besides, if that were your thing, the market is already saturated w ill-fitting shorts!

If this doesn't scream lulu, I don't know what does:

Thinking about padded shorts for spin class.

I would love a Golf Capsule please!

Yes! This cycling line is exactly what I was hoping for! At first glance, it looks like a lot of it is ideal for the commuter cyclist who uses their bike in lieu of a car in an urban area, bikes relatively short distances at a time, and who still has to walk around and be seen in whatever they're wearing when they get to their destination.

I just hope that this stuff is all available in black, and has sufficient reflective piping that I feel visible. Seeing all of this cycling stuff has made me realize that 1) Ray is just the same old chartreuse color that has always been used in cycling gear, and calling it Ray doesn't make it pretty to me. and 2) All of this polka dotted stuff is gonna look super dated in a year or two, and lulu is too expensive for me to not want to wear this stuff in two years. I want to wear it until it falls apart (*cross my fingers* sure do hope it lasts that long given quality these days)

Also, Anon 3:52, I wear skirts and dresses on my bike at least 5 days a week in the summer, as do many of the women I see biking in Philly. We don't wear special gear, just what we'd regularly wear for the day. Those sorts of cyclists are an entirely different (and woefully underserved) market from the high-mileage cyclists that would have been attracted to the Specialized kit (which I found completely unappealing). Unfortunately, most of lulu's stuff doesn't pass muster, cause even though it's great to sweat it, so much of it is way too skimpy for me to wear all day long.

@Minda - I have the pow purple and deep indigo WUC and yes, the have the triangular gusset. Compared to my black, fossil WUC and polocrosse crops which all have the diamond/oval one.

Anon 4:21 here. Sorry ladies I forgot which city's fan page they were on, but they were def Bruised Berry!! I know because I saw another pair on another fan page (sorry again) listed as BB, but I thought they looked like Power Purple so I disregarded. I will say that they are totally worth fighting sleep for tonight's upload, they are absolutely GORGEOUS!!

Anonymous said...

I agree with anon 3:52. My cycling crew would make fun of me if I showed up in those outfits. With that said, I don't expect Lululemon to make my cycling gear. Lulu is my gym gear, my workout gear, stuff for spinning and teaching yoga and casual wear.
Cycling gear is pretty high-tech when you really get down to it for serious riding. Where talking $200 plus shorts and jerseys pretty close to that too.I think Lululemon is going after the fitness, more recreational rider. There's nothing wrong with that. Those gals want to look cute- not racer serious. I definitely would not wear any of the Lululemon cycling gear though...

I saw the cycle stuff in the store tonight. It was cute, especially the purple dotted jacket (but not $138 cute). I don't care for the cropped CRBs, but whatever.

I also got (in a partner store) the bruised berry dotted CRB. BEAUTIFUL! I lovelovelove it. Dot placement was the same in all 3 shirts I saw.

I didn't notice any bruised berry WU at the time. I hope I didn't walk right by them!

Minda said...

thanks for checking Anon 5:54!

Jess said...

Yup, the crotch area on my power purples and deep indigo WU is a triangle... still deciding to keep them or not?

Anonymous said...

Ya, what's with the new triangle gusset? Used to be a diamond. I feel like this is what causes problems for me in my Run: A Marathon crops, which I would otherwise love.

I'm a pro cyclist and lulu fan and I can say I find most bikers far too rigid. I like to have more fun with my cloths, no one said you have to wear a certain length short or no skirts allowed. If people would make fun of you I would question their cycling passion. It's about the joy of riding not the rigidity of the kits.

Also, lulu is targeting cyclist of all abilities. I ride every day but not all girls do and for the more causal rider these may be perfect. I think I'll buy a few for my easy days.

Anonymous said...

none of the lulu cycling bottoms right now can be hemmed

Those Calvin Klein crops are a steal at $39 ($24 with today's discount) and they're almost identical to Astro WUCs.
