NEW! One for Om Leotard

New One for Om Leotard made of power luxtreme. It looks like it will show your every dimple and bump - do those women even have under garments on? What percentage of lulu customers is this even applicable to? 3%? 5%?

I like some of these initial comments from my lulu board:
  • When did Lulu and Cirque du Soleil start collaborating?

  • What is holding the boobs up? Good will?

  • Oh, Gaga ... now I get the connection! Lady G is on the design team! :)

  • Its the base layer for a ninja. Just add boots, sleeves and a hood.

  • Yup, it is a definite wedgie-nator! Camel toe city on this one, too. Oooooh I get it, instead of dropped crotch, they are doing dropped boobs!

  • We need to start a petition to SAVE THE LUON!!! Sign here_________________

If I buy a box of tall black garbage bags I TOO - can recreate this masterpiece. . .
-oh dear! this model clearly has a fit dancer type physique, but it is being swallowed and hidden - while somehow simultaneously revealing all! LOL oh dear oh dear!
- I won't get mad this won't be a winner for me . . I will get GLAD!

I don't even think 3% of the population could pull this one off. Truthfully, I don't think it looks all that great on this model either and she obviously has a great body. Bleh.

I have no words........

Obviously it was made with Ocean in mind.

a couple of Lulu's designers should be fired ASAP...

3.41 ahahahahaha well done!

Please people! This lady has a perfect body, no undergarments needed!

I think it is nice!

better than pale purple with polka dot and neon everthing....! enough already of that!

Oy vay! Calm down Anon 4:11pm. I love black. Black is always elegant. But don't put down the Polka Dots and Neons. Those are fun for some of us, even though we also like black. :)

I think if you are tall, thin, and tight and smooth ALL OVER, this piece won't let head unturned wherever it is you work out at!
It showcases perfect round and well-trained arms and shoulders. Anyone who can pull this masterpiece off, may just as well workout in a G-string and a bandeau top, without getting overheated by a second Luon skin.

what was lulu thinking.....yikes!!!!

i wouldnt pay a dollar for that. if it was free and i was passing by the store...i'd pick it up, tear the whole thing up.....make some headbands and my own version of the wunder unders.

kinda ridiculous.

You know, I have a friend that would look absolutely phenomenal in that Om leotard. Seriously.

put a sarong or wrap around the middle and it would work on a lot of bodies.

I think that model looks amazing.

So what if it is made for 3% of the population?! I am an aerialist and this WOULD be practical for me. I don't care if it shows every bump and dimple- it doesn't bother me if people see my bumps and lumps because EVERYONE HAS THEM. If I did buy this (which, honestly doubt I will because I'm a little broke right now), I would only wear it to my aerial classes- where everyone is moving around in tight leotards and spandex anyway.

I did ballet for 10 years (jr high through college) and have seen and worn MANY leotards and this is actually the CUTEST unitard I have ever seen. Leotards are tight and show everything because THAT IS THE POINT! That is how your teacher can see if your entire body is placed correctly.

So what if Lulu wants to make specialized clothes. Now...let's see what it does to their sales... (I will defend that the leotard is cute/practical for SOME, but I do think making so random specialized items will hurt sales)

Is that a leo and tights or a unitard? If it's a leotard and tights, it's nearly identical to a leotard that Mirella (a well-respected dancewear company) released about 4 years ago. I wonder how the material compares because I have the Mirella one, and it's the most flattering leo I own. High neck plus low arms into back equals very long, lean torso line. :)

I don't now what to think right now. I have jumpsuits and I am really careful when buying them since one style mistake for my body and I look like I'm going to a rehearsal not dinner. This model looks amazing. I am now curious what the eds would look like wearing it when they get it in stock.

U studied ballet until I was 19. I'm still very fit nearly 20 years later. But I'm not going to wear something like this to barre or yoga. I'm just not. That ship has sailed. I'll stick with my Wunder Unders and a Namaste halter or Power Y.
So...this is an item that is likely to appeal to a very limited number of women, as some of you have noted. So my question is...why make an item that is unlikely to sell very well (i.e. if so few women can pull it off or even want to try to pull it off)? How does that help the company?

doesn't leave much to the imagination now, does it? for a dance class, I get it. for a dance recital, I get it. i'm not a dancer but i have several past and current friends that are, and I watch enough TV to know what dancers wear, so I get it. it will work for that market. however, for all LLL customers, that's a really small market share--like really small. i'm thinking dancers who take their art seriously, go for the manufacturers that are time-tested, backed and revered by the industry.
moving on...for the average person...WTF??? this brings back the old saying "spandex is a privilege, not a right". yes, anyone can be fit and sexy at any size and shape. i have some of the best students/clients in the over sz 10 range that make me feel inferior in my self-confidence and sex appeal, but at some point somebody needs just to say "no", and slap the design monkey in vancouver who thought this would be a great idea. oh, and fire the idiot that approved it for production. i can see my LLL stock disintegrating as I type...

I'd like to see Christine Day wear it to the next board meeting.

MonkeyGirl !! MY EYES!! THEY ARE BURNING! lololol. Oh to be a fly on the wall that that board meeting!

LLL did do a ballet/dance capsule last year did they not? Maybe the One for Om Leotard is aimed at that group? I could see the 'designed for: dance'. (But why use 'Om' in the name?) Even if it's not for dance, and even if the intended use is put up as "yoga", I will be quite shocked if I see this in a yoga class.

They'll charge $100+ for it and I guarantee you this will sell. It will sell to the girls going out clubbing! And it will not matter what kind of shape they are in, they don't care!

I'm fit but would never wear it and no I do not go clubbing.

Seriously MonkeyGirl, you win. Bwhahahaha.

LOL, this just might make a great episode of Portlandia.

Or, better yet, the new green man of It's Always Sunny...

I think they named it "Om..." because we are all thinking... "Om... What is that?"

Anonymous said...

That's why they have that lulu bag that said run run because they KNEW we had to get away from this hideous onesie!

But just like the a muse me pants they will sell out! Which will blow my mind!

@ anon 4:59 pm - The point I was trying to make is that I think lulu's resources would be better spent developing the next core item hit - the next Swiftly tee, CRB, Wunder Under, Ta Ta Tamer - that will become their new cash cow. The market for this unitard has to be tiny and I would think dance-specific companies can probably do it better.

I think the neckline and the back of the top are pretty. If they took those two components and made a tank that was a bit flowy, they'd have a winner! Making it skin tight and attaching a bottoms, however, should be illegal.

Anonymous said...

I agree, the neckline would look nice as a tank. If I had money to burn, I'd buy this and alter it into a tank top.

Hi LLA - may I ask where your lulu messageboards are?

I want to go to there.*

Yes the woman in the pictures looks fantastic in that leotard and yes I'm sure it's great for sport-specific activities (dance), but it's not me. Lululemon seems to be all over the place when it comes to new designs--think scatter brained--and for the last few uploads, I've been very unimpressed.

While change is good, I'm not sure how well all these specialized items are going to do. Looks like I may check out some Zella in the near future.

Does anyone know if this leotard will come in Ray? I would luv one in a neon colour, you know, for visibility JK!

Anonymous said...

*crosses fingers that this comes in mirage print*

Anonymous said...

LOL LOL ray and mirage options

@ anon 11:03 pm - I'm referring to the two lulu-oriented Facebook groups, Lulu This Just In and Lulubirds.

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 5:45 am - I agree - no focus at all. I certainly expected more run tops for the summer. Also, where are the core items - Power Y, regular Cool Racerback - in the new Pop Orange and Pow Pink? I'm dying to buy a Pow Pink top but I don't like any of the tanks it's available in. Where are more Every Yogi tank and tees? I would love more of those for the summer.

Anonymous said...

Just bought it and it's truly fabulous. It gives just enough support for women with larger chest, it's figure flattering and very comfortable. Wish they made it in different colours, too.

as a ballet dancer, i would kill for this style right now. I know that styles like this don't apply to most yogis or lulu's customer, but people need to consider that a style like this fills a HUGE gap in a marketplace. it's true that there are other performance dance companies, but none that feature moisture wicking fabric (that actually does the job) and anti crotch and butt bunching.
