Interesting Bleeding Problem

Recently posted on one of the lulu boards - A Ray Cool Racerback (ray is a bleeder, unfortunately) with Senorita Pink bra underneath. Senorita hasn't been out for at least three years and wasn't a known bleeder. (I have a Senorita Scoop Neck tank and haven't had a problem) The general thought, and I agree, is that the Ray item pulled the color out of the other item. Maybe whatever lulu treats the fabric/thread with to enhance wicking? Anyone have a chemical background that can comment?

I have experienced an equally bizarre bleeding issue: My bang buster headbands have pulled the color out of my hair!

My hair is red, and it had been WEEKS since my last highlight, and yet the first time I wore both my white and blurred blossom bang busters to hot yoga the inside of the headbands were stained red. It was the strangest thing!

Omgosh, I had the same thing happen to me with a flash bra that was less than a year old. Flash CRB pulled the color when I started sweating! I posted photos on the LLL site. Never had a problem with the flash bra bleeding until the ray crb. I quickly washed mine and it came out but if I had waited, I might not be so lucky.

I meant RAY crb pulled flash color with sweat.

I had the same thing happen last week - I did a big "lulu brights" load when I came home from vaca. Have never had bleeding issues, but washed with two color catchers (one of the bleach ones and one plain one) - my Flash Daily (which I've washed prob 20 times with NO issues, and with Menthol, Aquamarine, other lighter colors) bled in streaks on my Ray CRB. Fortunately, I rewashed the CRB and all was well!

Wow Aimee - very bizarre about it pulling the color out of your hair. It must be whatever lulu is treating the fabric with.

yikes, haven't had any problems with the ray CRB yet but might watch what color bra I wear with it in the future. black only!

i wouldn't be so sure the ray wouldn't grab the blk out of the bra either :(

@ anon 10:17 pm - I've seen photos of Ray speed shorts bleeding onto itself so that weeds out wearing ray with ray. ;-)

WOW. Must be pretty strong chemicals to pull color out of your hair. What toxin must we be absorbing thru our skin!

Check out a June 25 review of Power Y tank on the site. Her heathered pink tank stained her wooden deck! She has pictures uploaded with the review.

Re: July 3 5:56AM post

What color "heathered pink"?

How did a Power Y stain a wooden deck? If it was a CRB or Switfly tank, I'd understand that someone could possibly be sweating and take off a CRB or Swiftly tank since there would be a sports bra underneath. Why was the Power Y doing laying on a wooden deck? I know that there are valid bleeding problems with certain lulu items, but this one makes no sense IMO.

OMG it just happened to me. I thought I had escaped the bleeding issues but I just washed my pow pink racer CRB for the first time -- used a color catcher and nothing came out, and yet it touched my really nice white sheets for maybe 2 minutes and now they are completely stained bright pink. I am washing them again right now, it better come out or lulu and I are going to have PROBLEMS. Beware ladies!

Anon 5:56...she probably got pissed at it staining everything in her house so she threw it out on the deck! Haha Seriously though, why question someone having a problem? I think it would be a lofty stunt to make it all up...and even if she did there are 1000s of others with similar complaints. Her tank is PP which was the 1st known bleeder.

I agree with above. My first reaction was how toxic is ray?! That is a serious chemical reaction to pull dye from hair.

These bleeding issues are so bizarre. I kinda wonder if it is a chemical thing. For instance I know that if you wear bug spray and rub against the vinyl fabric of a lulu bag for enough time it will melt the fabric of the bag and you'll get colour transfer like crazy... Lulu actually told me I shouldn't be wearing bug spray with any of their technical clothing as it will melt it... Lulu really needs to figure this stuff out. I mean how long are we going to have to complain about this. It's been over an year.

Her review:

"I am a good customer of Lululemon and practice yoga daily. I bought this tank in the heathered paris pink and even after following their washing instructions, it stained my skin, my floors, my other clothing, my towels and even my yoga mat. I would recommend buying your yoga tops elsewhere."

If you take the time to go look at her review, she attached a picture of the stained deck and the stained Power Y.

As for what the Power Y was doing on the deck or how it got stained, I imagine she laid down on her deck after a sweaty workout? Or maybe she placed a wet Power Y on the deck to dry/air it out? I really don't know for sure unless someone asks the reviewer. But I don't think it's that impossible. Could happen.

While Lulu certainly has problems, you can't blame them for the bug spray thing. Most (effective) bug sprays contain DEET. DEET and synthetics (which is what luon and luxtreme are) don't mix - DEET melts synthetics. Not just lulu synthetics, any synthetics. So no, you shouldn't use DEET containing bus spray near your technical clothing. Try Picaridin (Natura Repel is the brand name), instead. I find it's just as effective as deet, but safe to use around synthetics.

That is crazy about all the staining and transferring to other items.

On the Power Y review & deck stain situation: maybe it was hanging on a line above and it dripped all that? Or after a sweaty workout she took it off and left it on the deck, or maybe it fell off a chair?

I've just had my first bleeding issue with the seaside dot Pacesetter skirt. I've worn it and washed it multiple times with no issue, then wore it for a half marathon on the weekend. Just from sweat, the Ray undershorts bled all over the back. Most came out in the wash, but not all & it's ruined. I'll be taking it back & avoiding anything else that might bleed like this. I've bought a lot of lulu over the years, but I'm not going to be buying much from there until they sort out their quality issues. What good are running clothes you're afraid to run in?

The same thing happened to me with the ray crb! I wore a pink (not sure which one) energy bra (OLD) & it turned pink! Most of it came out in the first wash (I washed immediately as it was the first wear for the ray tank). I am a new lover of lulu but for the price of this line they should've already taken care of the problem!

I wore my Flash CMH bra (worn/washed many times) and I wore it with my new Ray CRB and I had bleeding Flash.. I was so confused but this puts things into perspective.. I've re washed my ray CRB 4 times and all the Flash came out.. I'm going to try the outfit again for tonight WOD and see how it goes.

Also having an issue with my ray crb - went biking got some dirt on it - washed it 6 times can't get it off...never had that problem with any lulu something is definitely different about this tank. I've got all kinds of lulu shirts, shorts, bras pants - never had this happen before....
Also the stitching is literally falling off the bottom since it came.
Probably have to return this one (sadly) love the colour - favorite lulu colour so far

@ anon 3:34 pm - I'm surprised you couldn't get basic dirt out of a ray CRB. Lulu has always been quite awesome when it comes to stains washing out.

However, I think the lulu yellows are kind of weird. I had a couple of items in Mac N Cheese yellow and they got odd light blue/green stains on it. I think it was from my laundry detergent, which was blue, because it's not like I regularly rub against blue items on my waistband.

Soooo....no sweating or getting dirty in your expensive premium high quality WORK OUT GEAR ok !?!?
But if you're not 25 and buying it to work out in (ocean) you're not welcome to buy it.
:)
Right ?
Also getting tired of all these issues....what IS safe to buy anymore ?

Unfortunately I am returning my ray CRB. This is the second time I had it soak up the color of my sports bra. LLL agreed to take it and they are paying for return shipping. VERY sad because I love the color but I can't keep rushing home after a sweaty work out to wash it immediately so the color it pulls won't set in :( will the orange pop do this?... Maybe I should stick with dark color CRB's???

I have an interesting comment about this. I too have owned tons of lulu for about 5 yrs and have never had a problem until recently with the odd item here and there bleeding. However, the craziest thing happened to me recently which makes me wonder if there is something else going on with the atmosphere or water or something... an old old old Victoria's Secret bikini bottom that I love and is very similar in colour to paris pink bled for the first time while I was on vacation two months ago. I packed it by itself in my carryon bag, so I know it didn't touch any lulu, and I wore it alone for swimming and it didn't touch any lulu stuff on my body then, either. All through my vacation I was rinsing out hot pink dye from this thing (I have had it for about three years with no previous problems.) Has anyone else noticed any bleeding of other athletic brands, or anything else weird like this?
