Spotted in Stores - Solid Currant Inspire Crops (Updated with Photo)

These aren't a photo of them, but there are solid Currant Inspire Crops in the stores in the US. As soon as I have a photo, I will post. Photo of the new Currant Inspire Crops. The inspires are darker than the Wunder Unders. (Thanks to Tiffany for this photo)

I tried these on yesterday and was not happy for two reasons: 1)they were very shear during the bend over test and 2) the circle mesh is completely different!!! There is a lot more of it in the front of the crop and seems like it would wear out more easily. Anyways, I don't know why they changed it but I wasn't impressed.

Anonymous said...

Oh! And they also had bruised berry inspires which were beautiful but I didn't try them on because they were out of my size.

Focus said...

Bruised Berry inspires sound interesting.
Did we ever see bruised berry WU? I thought we had seen a picture of those at one point, maybe they were elusive like that beautiful bruised berry crb.

Also, looking for any input regarding locating a Canadian Lulu Angel. Does anyone here utilize Angels? I've read some post regarding proper etiquette when working with Angels but beyond that I'm clueless. Thanks in advance.

any fit reviews on the track time crops?? i know with the higher price point it may not be worth it but i love the look of them. i don't mind paying for some that are excellent quality/performance as they will get lots of use.

i like shorter cut crops as i am a petite and find the inspires are almost pants on me. plus with the waistband issues, they are not my favourite (fabric yes, cut isn't for me, i have a pair with the old waistband and i love them with exception of length.) the track times are a few inches shorter in the length so may be ok.

anyone been running in these or tried on in store??

thanks in advance.

At anon 6:58- Besides trying on the currant inspire crops, I did also try on the track time crops. At first I was just trying them on for kicks because they were so expensive but of course i fell in love with them and had to buy them in the caspian blue and grey color! Here is what is great about them: the luxtreme is thicker and not shear at all!, the design on the back is super cute, they are very comfortable and breathable, and there are flat bonded seams on the inside of the crops which prevents chafing. I know there are bad reviews for the bonded seams on the shorts, but since these are not lose on you, the chafing is not an issue (thank goodness!!). I did size up though from my inspires. In the inspires I wear a 2 because the 4 is lose around the knee and calf area, but in the track time crops i think the 2 would be too tight around the belly. I LOVE that they are medium rise with a nice thick band, very comfortable!! Anyways, I will probably buy them in the power purple also because I loved them SOOO much! Totally worth the extra $10 even though that is a very steep price for a pair of running crops! Let me know what you think when /if you get them!

Anonymous said...

@anon 7:14; thanks for the great information. i will likely order them. length is the same as the studios which i love. i think fit should be ok. pricy for crops but i balance it out with usage...provided they last and keep that quality look after wear. i do love the inspires for function, love them, but the fit isn't quite ideal for me.

i might wait until there are a few reviews online but sometimes its 'love love love' prior to use/washing etc. and its hard to know what the performance/quality is until they are abused a bit with workouts/wear.

I finally got my order today from the last upload..... Sheesh! But anyways, I was so worried about the ls stripped yogi t I got. I ripped open the package and tried it on. Holy frijoles!!!! This is the cutest shirt on the planet. Seriously. It's SO SOFT!!!! Love that t is reversible. And... It's long enough that I think it would be darling with some leggings.
This is my first yogi t ever.... And now.... I might be addicted!!!!

Anonymous said...

Yes, I have my BB WUs on right now as I type.

Anonymous said...

I tried the new track time crop, but after ~5 minutes walking around the store, the inside seam, upper thigh began chafing! Ouch!
I tried the BB inspires-big fail. I hate that they've shortened the waistband, and the circle mesh on the BB ones sounds like the currant inspire circle mesh-too much in front.
I love the sun sprinter crop as an alternative to the new inspires, be ause I find the waistband fits like my older inspires, and the mesh panel does keep me cool

For the owners of the white Be Me Top, has your top turned yellow-ish in the pit area? I'm on the fence with the white one because of it. Not sure how well this fabric washes out deodorant and sweat stains. Any insights?

OT -- I'm eying the Bliss Bag in WMTM but just can't decide if I *need* it. I don't go to a gym so don't need it for that. I'm thinking of using it as a carry-on in the plane but worry that there aren't enough zippers to keep my stuff secure. What do you lovely ladies think? Have any of you used it for travel?

erica said...

Sourkraut: i guess it depends on how you travel. I found it to be much too heavy empty for my carry on. I always use my longchamp bag with travel pouches to keep my stuff organized. It folds into a tiny packet when not in use and is super lightweight.

Anonymous said...

Sourkraut, a lot of people will most likely tell you the Bliss bag is great. It might be, if you go to a gym and only carry it to and from the car. It's huge, heavy (when empty) and the outside pockets don't have a safe closure. If you need a bag to travel or for weekend trips, get something that had some shape to it and "feet" so you can put it on the floor without worrying about the fabric getting dirty. I would honestly tell you to save your money for a more appropriate travel bag.

Is there a lululemon outlet out a place I can go to get the older colors or styles? It seems they discontinue colors so quickly that they get sold out before I can buy them

YAY!

I finally got my Venus Tank! The last time I was at a store they didn't have them in my size, or what I thought would be my size. I got up the West Ed yesterday and left my sons at the IMAX and went on a Lulu spree. I didn't need to size up! I think this just means that I normally do size up to hide my mama pooch.

I also got a pair of WU with the quilted waist band, which I love, I can't believe that I never tried them before now! Five years of Lulu and I'm no longer a WU virgin!

Because of the Pow Pink in the waist band I mentioned to an educator about a Pow Pink tank I'd bought that had bled on it's first wash but had been OK on the second and subsequent washes. She immediately said that I should have returned the top and that if the same thing happened with the WU's there would be no argument if I returned them. I do think there's a turnaround on the customer service.

I also tried on the Run Catch Me Tank, which I really thought would work for me only to find that it bagged around the chest in my normal size and when I sized down as well. The Ziggy Wee CRB was like a dress on me, I'm just over 5 foot. I also walked out with a No Limits Tank and can't work out how I didn't try that one before, an Energy Bra in the Angel, I also had to size down in this one and some Techni Thongs. So I've scratched my itch for a bit now :D

Sourkraut said...

Thanks, erica and Anon 10:55. I feel OK about passing on the bag in that case. Sounds like it's not right for my needs. By my rationale that means I now have $70 to spend on something else!

Amy b, I'm always logged in with my Google account so don't have to do that but the Captcha (letters and numbers we have to type in for security) is always there. I swear I get those damn things wrong 30% of the time. But I know even on my own rinky dink blog I get annoying spam comments so I make everyone go through that too.

Anonymous said...

Sourkraut:

I agree with Anon 10:55. I had the Bliss bag, but then got rid of it. It was too cumbersome, and I would find my bag knocking into things, just because it's an odd shape that doesn't lay flatter like a tote or something when I have a few things in it. I am not sure if that makes sense, but it was my experience.

I have the Daily bag, and the Triumph tote from last year. The Triumph tote doesn't have feet, but it's pretty well-structured. I've beat the heck out of it, and it still looks new. The Daily bag is my go-to for weekend trips as it has feet, if it gets dirty it's easy to wipe clean, and it's structured well enough to hold a ton of stuff. It's not the lightest bag, but I also don't find it to cumbersome and heavy like I did the Bliss bag.

amazr said...

I have nothing but love for the power purple virtuous tank and matching track time crops I wore to the gym today for 3.5 hours! The tank stayed put, dried like a dream, and felt buttery soft. The crops are the first pair of running crops I could size down in for better compression without getting muffin top or sheerness. Also quite silky smooth and breathable. I did not experience any chaffing with the bonded seams. If you are on the fence with this one, go for it! It was worth the extra $$ for something that looks and performs like a dream.

Anonymous said...

Ugh. I want to get rid of my bliss bag. Used it once and found it too heavy. :( there r still one too many selling on eBay. Lol. Selling it in 5 years.....

Sourkraut said...

Thanks for all the feedback on the Bliss bag. It does look kind of cumbersome and shapeless in some of the pics. I noticed there are a bunch for sale on eBay and many of the completed auctions didn't go for much more than the clearance price. Made me worry that if I buy it and don't like it I might not be able to resell it for what I paid. Sounds like a definite pass for me. I guess not everything in my closet has to come from Lulu.

Anonymous said...

Sourkraut, I bit on the bliss bag, because such a great price and had overall excellent reviews. I also asked 5 of my lulu friends that own them and they said they loved theirs and to "go for it!" Such a lovely bag...we travel a lot, so will be great for what I need it for! I'm bored with my Fast and flight bag. :)

I tried on the unity pull over and decided i love it! Some pictures i have seen of it made it look unflattering and I thought for the price it wasnt worth it. I decided on the black and then of course had to get the red power y to wear with it. Also bought the will crop i love love them! Tried on the ls yogi in stripe and although the fabric is nice and it fits nice I wasnt willing to spend 80 dollars on a striped long sleeve shirt. I also got the venus tank in capsian blue.....love it but had to size up. I also bought the light grey presence pant to go with it! I was set on getting the darker black ones but decided to try something different and the light color is nice for summer. They are quite long but i rolled them up and they look cute like that!

Anonymous said...

Hallo Sourkraut, hier ist anon 10:55. Since you only asked for feedback on the Bliss Bag and not for suggestions, I refrained from making any. But given that anon 12:58 did mention the Daily Bag, I now would like add that this one is my favourite gym/travel bag from lululemon so far. I have two of them, one from the first batch and the black from the second (currently online, which is an even better version with the mat strap holder!). This bag is really beautiful, roomy without being huge, it holds its shape, has feet, the outer material is easy to clean, great pockets inside, two large ones (one on each inner side), the padded one for the laptop and the other (zippered) one for "sweaties". To me, it's the perfect travel bag because it's elegant and easy to carry. I would even get a third one if it came in navy or grey. Rarely do you find one on ebay and these few have sold used for almost full price, if not even more.

@anon 2:53; mine didn't. put a colour catcher in the first wash, cold. no problems. i don't wear it to sweat in though, strictly casual. i find the scuba's way to thick to do anything but wear them out and about.

its the only currant item i own. i did because i thought it was an 'old' item. wouldn't have ordered it had i predicted bleeding issues.

OT - can someone recommend panties that don't show panty lines? i've tried the commando brand but they go up my butt. i like ones with more coverage and went to nordies but couldn't find anything that truly gave no vpl against my thinner WUs. i'm not a fan of boy shorts or thongs. please help!

Anonymous said...

@anon 4:01... Just go commando... Oh wait, not if you're wearing lulu bottoms and doing yoga. Unless it's a full moon of course. I'd rather have a vpl than someone see my ass in my WUs or Ebb and Flows!!

Sourkraut said...

@Anon 4:01 -- Per LLA's recommendation I recently picked up a pair of Zobha boy shorts and give them two thumbs up. I know, I know, you said no boy shorts but I think these are somewhat between a bikini and a traditional boy short. I just wore them for a run and they are in the exact same place where I left them. In other words, no riding up and there's no VPL. I have a pretty wide bum and they provide plenty of coverage. They also dry quickly and feel great on. Feels almost like I have nothing on!

Sourkraut said...

@Anon 4:01 -- Oh, and I recently asked for underwear recommendations in another post. You'll have to scroll through it but there were a lot of good suggestions. I hope to try out some others but have to pace myself because these things ain't cheap.

I like Soma Intimates Vanishing Edge Microfiber with Lace Hipsters. I have them in the nude color and wear them under my WUs and there's no VPL, and if the WUs happen to be slightly sheer when I bend over you can't see the undies because of the nude color.

lulufan said...

I'd talked myself out of the currant wus because I rarely wear my WUs these days... but these are a different story!! Haha this truly is the first time in a while I've felt like I NEED a lulu item in my life (the last was the ray swiftly sleeveless).

I tried on the track time crops today In my usual size 6, found them to be sort of tighter In the waist then my ebb &flow crops or wunder under/grooves. I tried on the 8 , which felt much smoother and didn't dig in

I have no interest in red inspire crops. And LLL has changed the inspire material again? in less than a year? so annoying.

Sourkraut said...

@Anon 1:48 -- Sorry, I meant to reply earlier. Thanks for the bag recommendation! I hadn't asked for one because I didn't want to be a pest but I was secretly hoping for recommendations so yours was welcome. I checked out the Daily Bag and it looks similar to the bag I currently use and like (but is sadly falling apart) with the added bonus of that cross-body strap. I get cranky enough when dragging my bags through airports so any extra comfort would be a boon. I'll keep an eye out for it the next time I'm in a store. Then it'll just be a matter of convincing myself to spend that much on one little bag.

Anonymous said...

I am not crazy about the Bliss bag. I purchased it when it was on the WMTM. I have only used twice now. I did like that it was open and there were pockets to hold hairbrushes and other stuff. I also walked home from yoga one day (about 2.2 miles) and toted the yoga mat in the bliss bag and also liked how it carried my water bottle in a big pocket. However, I should have thought about it more prior to purchasing.

However, for school or travel, it would be way too cumbersome. I have too many LLL bags and need to wait it out instead of buying all of them right away!

Anonymous said...

Oops. I didn't finish all about the Bliss bag. I tried to bring it to work once with some lunch, extra clothes, and some papers. Papers or anything that needs to be straight do not work (I know, not the purpose of the bag). It just seemed like it was a huge lumpy mess, and it kept sliding off my shoulders. I think I'll get the new bag if it makes it to WMTM.

Anonymous said...

Sourkraut, I know you've decided 'no' on the Bliss Bag, but for anyone else thinking about it:
I have it and I love it for going to yoga. All of the interior pockets and the 2 large exterior front pockets and the side big/zip pocket for sweaty unmentionables keep me very organized. I also like how my mat stands perpendicular - it's easier to manoeuvre in busy spaces with people/commuting. I don't mind the openness of the top w/ drawstring and side pockets…I don't put valuables in any of them. I don't use the mat cover, it's a bit of a miss on the design.
As for travelling: I would not use as a carry-on on a plane, it would not be practical with the open top. However, I have used it long distance on a passenger train and it was fine in the overhead bin and it was perfect for my couple days away.
I will agree that once you load it up, it is quite heavy! I have a 15 min. walk from work to one yoga studio (then subway home), or a 25 min. walk home from another studio. Sometimes I carry it without issue and sometimes, depending on energy level I guess, I think about how heavy it can be. I have the Dune colour and have had some scuffs, but have been able to wipe those off without issue or water marks showing up.

Anonymous said...

@ 6:27 PM - papers/work would stay flat in the side zip pocket for 'sweaty wet unmentionables'...I actually don't put swu in, I put my clean change of clothes...so mine has never been touched by swu. also forgot to mention i also got it on sale. (6:31 pm)

Anonymous said...

My friend and I got the Bliss bag on WMTM (mine black and hers the mint). And both (!) bag had seams unravelling in less than a month! I only used it for yoga and was planning to use for it traveling later this month but it didn't make it. I wouldn't recommend it for traveling since it couldn't even survive simple to-and-fro gym use.

I didn't mind the open pockets but agree that it was heavy even when empty.

I too also use a huge Longchamp bag as a carry-on. Lightweight, easy to clean and foldable for easy stowaway (for when I want to use a new bag for the return trip. Lol.)

I got my upload order this morning . I really like the striped Iconic wrap. I have the black one from 2 years ago(?) and this striped one is definitely easier to put on given the stripes and the stitching serving as a guide. I struggled with the black one but that's just how my brain works. It felt snug in the arms but it is soft so it feels good. I will not size up since the drapey front will be too open. I'm keeping this one. I'm glad I ordered another one since my black is getting old looking. I also got the power Y in currant. I have not tried this one on but aside from the bleeding issue I'm sure it's ok. The speed squad in currant (of course) is lovely as expected. I am currantly (ha ha) overloaded. I will stop now. No more currant. Thank goodness I am not in the market for any crops until the next wave of Dhanurasanas or the inspires will probably lure me back in.
I have decided to go to sea wheeze next year. My husband wants to pair this with a golf vacay as well. He said he wants to cheer me on. I will take the kids if their summer schedule allows. More cheer squad members!!! No telling with them sometimes.
I need all the help I can gather from the wise here on this blog. I have not a clue what the first thing is to do (re SEA WHEEZE) although I'm sure GEC will tell me but I'd rather ask here first.

BT, washing report:

Virtuous tank in currant: BLEEDER
Paris Pink WU (worn and washed a few times since winter): STILL A BLEEDER!!!

Re angels- yes. I've ordered a few things from the Vancouver ladies who are absolutely amazing. Request your item/s on the wall including style, color, size and a second choice if you're ok with that. They'll find it (or not) and pm with total incl shipping. Please think about tipping them for their efforts, time, gas, parking etc- I personally like to do 20 % depending on size of order but up to you.

For anyone looking for a bag:

I have an effortless tote that I bought a year and half ago and it still looks new. It has been tossed all over the place and no problems. It has a lap top sleeve, large opening for a mat and plenty of pockets. It is easy to clean (wipe down) and came with a long shoulder strap that detaches. If you can find one I highly recommend it!

@ Pink Peony 6:40 PM...all right Sea Wheeze 2013! I know you work out a lot. Do you run regularly? You'll want to have a running plan in place for the half marathon. Depending on your conditioning level, there are any number of training plans for a half marathon, so I won't go into too much detail as to the number of weeks for training. LLL also had the "Tackle Box Training" which was also a guide for running, yoga, cross training, and rest. Of course there are lots of books on running and training too. Nutrition/diet is important and over time you get to know what food/fuel works for your body. Sleep/rest/recovery are also important.

If you've not run a race before, I would recommend you try one out in your area/state. A 5K or 10K or something like that. Just so you can deal with the whole race routine/environment/nerves/crowd etc.

When the SeaWheeze link goes up to sign-up, you register on-line. Since you're coming from far away, you'll want to book a hotel as soon as you have your plans sorted. Lots of great hotels in DT Vancouver, right around the harbor where the start/finish line is (imagine it'll be the same but it could change). If you are able to, try to arrive a couple days before race day just so you can acclimatize, rest, relax. I know you mentioned being in Vancouver before, but you'll want to take the family to Stanley Park for sure, which is such a beautiful, breathtaking place (and is part of the Sea Wheeze route). The Vancouver Aquarium is also in Stanley Park (they do such great things there esp. taking care of injured sea life). If you have time during the stay/vacation, you'll also want to check out Grouse Mountain which is across the harbor/North Vancouver. Too many things to see & do there! Of course you're going to LLL and you'll probably want to check out the LLL Lab.

Those are all the early tips for now!

I'm the one who asked about undies with no vpl. Thanks for all the suggestions! I will check them out. As for commando, I bought a pair of the microfiber and they were really uncomfortable and kept giving me a back wedgie. And pricey! I'll see about the cotton. I need them to stay put!

Off topic, but I need some consoling... I was eyeing the Venus crops in the deep indigo slub denim color. They had size 6 and 8 left. I figured I'd order them when I got back from running a few errands. A few hours later when I went to order them, they were gone! The indigo color completely gone from the site! Please, someone tell me they weren't that great! Lol.

I wanted them for casual wear, as I pretty much live in leggings with boots in 9 out of the 12 chilly months here in the pacific northwest. Any recommendations for cute crops for wearing casually? Any thoughts on the polocrosse crops? I'm 5'1, so crops are pretty much pants on me, which I like.

Thank you!!

@Anon 8:23 pm THANK YOU!!!
Now I'm nervous but still excited. I definitely want my children to go so they can see the sights and play a little bit.
I am not a runner at all but when I try to run, I can do 1 mile without stopping but I feel like my chest is going to explode. Lol. I don't know any tricks or what not.
I need to work on my diet since I am not much of a meat eater though I am married to a rancher.

I will try my best to work on my conditioning level. I know it is important.
My sorority sponsors a 5K every May. I might run this next year. What a good way to travel though--- run lots of 5 to 10 K's everywhere!!! I don't think I'll be doing that much but what a concept.

I don't remember where we stayed in Vancouver but Rocky Mountaineer Tour booked it as part of a package. We stayed at mostly the Fairmont Hotels like Banff and Lake Louise. They were nice.

Again, Thank you for the tips.

Pink Peony, eating meat will not improve your performance in any way. If you are looking to fuel your body with plenty of energy that will sustain you throughout the race, perhaps increasing your intake of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and some high protein grains will be a good idea. Just a suggestion. Of course you know your body best and what kind of diet works for you. Just talking from my own experience as runner.

Lululemon bags are poor quality, my bag fell apart after 1 month. I tried the Yogi LS on it was long almost to my knee yuk!

I have seen knock of Studio crops in Winners for a fraction of the price and they are breathable, also Foot Locker has some.

The InStride in currant is long and the material feels cheaper, I passed.

Too much money for something you are only going to wear for a workout.

For nutrition for the marathon, one needs plenty of carbohydrates and it is important to learn what works for fuel before/during/after the race. Of course, hydration and adequate fat and protein are important as well.

My favorite sports nutrition guidebook is Nancy Clark's Sports Nutrition Guidebook by Nancy Clark - she has worked with recreational athletes and all sorts of athletes for many years. Her book provides the specific guidelines, ideas for recipes, and more.

I bet the indigo slub denim products were pulled because the fabric sucks. I bought a pair of WU crops, wore them casually for a day, and at the end of the day they were all fuzzy and horrible. Looked like they were 5 years old! I will be returning them today...hope the store will take them back! :/

@ Pink Peony 9:56 PM, 8:23 pm again. I am cheering for you! I love running so much and hope you come to love it too!

For now just do a run/walk routine, don't worry about continuous running. Running and lung capacity is just practice practice, practice. The stronger you get, the longer you'll be able to go at a continuous run.

Focus on running that 5K and getting to know yourself as a runner!

The first thing I would say is running is not that complicated but there is a lot of info. out there that can make it that way. Running again is practice and listening to your own body. Your first priority is to always approach yourself with care and not to overdo it or injure yourself.

I've attached a Runner's World link that is still a solid guide to getting started. Runner's World magazine generally always has good info and they have on-line forum's/boards where you can ask questions and talk to other runners.

As for books/guidance, there are so MANY. I'm in Canada so the popular ones here are anything by John Stanton (links below). Again, don't get too overwhelmed by books etc. It's all about practice over time (nothing happens overnight, right?) and listening to your own body. AND it is very much about enjoyment. In the early stages it's going to be more challenging while you build lung capacity, feel some aches and pains, but hopefully you get to a point where you're doing it and you say to yourself "Running is the best thing ever!" etc. etc., you feel the euphoria, runner's high, and the literal great freedom of it all. It becomes just something you want to do all the time and cannot imagine not doing.

A very important point is to make sure you are in the correct type of shoe. You should go to a proper running store for this (not just any mass sports store) as they will spend the time doing the best assessment. For shoes there are regular cushion, stability and motion control. The last 2 are for mild pronation and severe pronation. I pronate inwards so I need stability in my shoe, otherwise I would have wrecked my knees long ago. Once you know what type of shoe to be in, you can then buy them anywhere (deals on-line at zappos, amazon, countless other places).

As for diet, again this does not need to be overly complicated. You need carbohydrates and protein but try to keep it lean - chicken, pork. Lentils are an awesome fuel as well. You need everything...there can be info overload for runners. You need food as both food for fuel to run and for recovery. Post run you need to repair your muscles. I'm not going to go into food too much. You know your own diet and what you need and you can read up on this. I myself keep it simple, nutritious. About eating before a run and after a run, this is again, individual. You need fuel but you don't want a full stomach. Practice is also about knowing what your body tolerates and what goes on with your digestive system (lol, nice way not to give tmi). For eating after your run, ideally you want to eat at least within 40 mins-1 hr of the run because in that timeframe your body will reap the best benefits of the work you have put into it. Eating before a run is personal as to what amount of time from eating to going out feels comfortable...hour, hour & a half etc.

FOR NOW you are starting off with a walk/run routine, so again, don't get too overwhelmed about food and eating/recovery. Early days you are just going to be relaxed about it, start focusing on what works for YOU. The extra fuel and post recovery will become more important when you get into longer runs.

And of course, hydrate hydrate! Even if you're going for a short run, always take water with you. If you're running alone, always let someone know where you're going and bring a cell phone with you. You're in Texas so I can't even give you any tips for your environment there...other than sun protection and don't overdo it in the heat. It would be great if you could talk to some Texas runners/experts as no doubt they would have all kinds of experienced advice to share. And run defensively - by that I mean be aware and in tune with your surroundings. I'm always aware and I do run with an iPod...music is the best!

OK I've gone on too long now. I hope some of this helps! Happy running!

8:23, 8:31 again...forgot to mention, awesome staying at the Fairmont properties! The one at Lake Louise in particular is a dream setting. I will be staying at the Fairmont Waterfront for SeaWheeze (and business the next week). It is right outside the start/finish line. However, the Fairmont Pacific Rim is also right nearby; it is the brand new Fairmont that was built with the Olympics in mind...have not stayed there but a very beautiful property! Also right around the Van. convention centre etc. where the SW start/finish is. There is 3rd Fairmont in DT Vancouver, Fairmont Vancouver, just up the street. There is also the Pan Pacific hotel, also on the waterfront, attached to Canada Place. There's a Delta not too far away as well.

@Kristin, Minda and Focus
Awww..you guys are too sweet!!! Thank you for the love and birthday wishes. My husband and son wanted me to thank you guys too, for the birthday shout out! :) Today's pretty jammed packed with activities (fundraiser for my son's surf camp, which is a lovely cause. It is a surf camp for kids with dissabilities, so all could enjoy the joy of riding the waves, regardless.....) and the "extended" celebration will end on next Suday in Santa Barbara with kirtan with Krishna Das. (For those of you who are not familiar with kirtan-it's a "call and response" singing, in Sanskrit and KD is what's equivalent to a "rock star" in the kirtan world.) And being a Leo (as Kristin will highly concur) I will be up front and center, singing my heart out, till hoarse! :) Love to all, and may today bring joy and laughter to us all.

P/S: lulu birthday upload wish-pretty tanks in deep cranberry!

Aaas- happy birthday, Yogibabe!

I love all the tips about running! I planned on doing couch 2 5K a long while back, but hurt my foot. Since then i give it a go now and then but have not been regular. I'm an avid bar method person and dabble in yoga, but cardio is sorely missing from my life. While Bar has been great for toning, it is not helping with weight loss (although the bar method says additional cardio is not necessary, for me it is) and I figure running is a less expensive way to get my heart pumping. Plus, I live in Old Town, Alexandria, VA - and we have lovely running trails. Reading these encouraging running posts has inspired me to get going with a consistent program!

LLL plays games with the webiste. They will upload and pull products multiple times. Not sure if that's part of their "scarcity" model operating procedure or what. My local store still has items in the indigo denim, so they were NOT pulled and are NOT defective. Fabric content, size choice (buying items that are too tight), whether or not someone's thighs, etc rub together can impact whether or not any given item pills, where it pills, how quickly it pills, or whether or not it is "see through." The "see through" issues can most often be alleviated by sizing UP or simply wearing the size that fits best. Size is NOT as important as correct fit!

I think shoes depend on your feet. I've run 4 marathons and I just go to the mass produced footwear stores and buy the running shoes they have as buy 1 get 1 and I've never been injured or had problems. The shoes are still name brand (Nike, addidas, new balance, saucony...etc). I'm too cheap to shell out over $100 for one pair of shoes when I cab buy two pairs for under $90. I'm training for my 5th marathon currently and still doing well!

I have just started running also. I am doing the couch to 5k. I downloaded the app for my iPhone called Lolo Couch To 5k With Jeff Galloway. It's awesome! It gives you each run, tells you when to walk/ run... And you can put in your own play list and it changes the tempo of your songs based on the speed you are moving!!!
He also has many other apps.... For a half marathon and a full, an elliptical one... And another just to change the tempo of music while you workout.
Lots of gala that teach at my school are avid runners and they all swear by his books and running methods!
He is all about running without injury.
Maybe we should all go next year to the LLL run!!!

Anonymous said...

Kristina 9:13 AM, Congrats on your marathons! Of course the "shoes depend on your feet". That is why there is a recommendation for any new runner to have a gait analysis done. You may be a person who only needs cushion a.k.a. regular running shoe. However, if someone has pronation issues, they MUST be in the proper shoe and cushion is not it. Once you know what type of shoe you should be in (it may end up being regular cushion), you can buy away to your heart's content any brand at outlets/sales/on-line. For anyone starting to run, or being serious about running, or going for longevity in running, it's important to have the gait analysis done. The shoes are the key piece of equipment for a runner--all fancy other gear aside--they hold up everything you do; it is important that they are right for the runner.

MonkeyGirl said...

I had serious foot issues from running in the wrong shoe. It wasn't until I went to a podiatrist that I found out I had an extra bone in my foot- and required shoes that would not allow for the resulting pronation that came from my foots hyperflexibility. I went to a small, expert running store where they analyzed my gait and looked at the doctors note- and I got a pair of shoes (on sale for $60) that have made me injury free ever since. I do think it is a great idea to get one's gait analyzed initially, then once you know what you need you can buy your shoes anywhere for future buys. I wish I had that done at the start, it would have solved a lot of issues!

Go Monkey Girl! Running is one of the most accessible and economical activities to do. It is the easiest one to do at any time, wherever you are when you have time. Great you already have been through gait analysis.

Ahh VA and trails, I bet you have some beautiful spots to run in! This is also another amazing thing about running. Wherever you are, whether where you live or travel, it is one of the best ways to see a place. Every place has its own unique beauty. I live where there are four seasons and I run in all seasons. Autumn is still my favourite: the leaves changing in all their glory, the scents in the air. Spring as well: everything comes back to life, buds on the trees, flowers coming up, fledgling birds and robins! (Seriously the sight of them makes me so happy!) Summer's amazing with lighter clothes, sun and blue sky, greenery everywhere and gardens in bloom. Winter too has its austere beauty, especially when running and a light snow blankets everything. But brrr, as I get older it's sometimes harder to get motivated…dark in the morning, dark in the evening. I only run when it's basically dry though, I can deal with the cold. Running in icy conditions or too much slippery muck is just asking for trouble (have learned over many years and I have only had one injury).

I could go on and on about the romance of running. I am always thankful for the ability to do it and aim to do it into old age. I am thankful every run, to be able to put the ground beneath my feet, the freedom and the ability, whatever my ability that day.

re: Jeff Galloway, yes he is another popular expert. Good for you on the apps etc. I'm in tune with technology and I have apps, but honestly, I'm very low tech and don't use them. I love music and have a ton of it, so I decide my playlists, no one else. I have an iPod Touch that I won't run with. I run with an iPod Shuffle as it is makes my run that much less complicated in terms of size of the device and ease of use. I run to all kinds of stuff (I'm a big alternative music lover) and even run to music some people think you couldn't, but Bach Cello Concertos…ahhh, sometimes there's nothing better. I think apps are handy but I think they also overcomplicate things at times and I like to keep my running life simple.

Are there pilling problems with all the slub denim or mostly just indigo? I want a pair of black but the pilling bothers me...so I thought I'd check here first!

Anonymous said...

@ 8:50 AM...I don't know, I think most people like that contrast? I myself do not as I think it makes the crop look very dated. I only have one pair of inspires (all black, originals/i's) and was not happy when they changed them to the 2's. I have lots of other crops that I prefer over the inspires. Again, I know those red inspires are not for me, but they are for someone!

@4:05 AM....holy unhappy camper. Too much money for something to work out in....well no. I'm hardcore so I'm in this stuff a lot so for me, it's an investment as it performs well, I don't have to think about it if it fits/works perfectly, and it holds up over years.

Winners knock offs...many moons ago I would buy this stuff and sorry, there is no comparison to LLL quality and comfort. I will still buy the odd brand name gear there, like a Nike l/s or whatever, but I'm going for quality not appearance/mimicking LLL.

Anon 9:46 AM, I love your descriptive and motivating comments about running :)

The other day I put on my lilac bra and got a smudge of lipstick on it- wiped it off with cold water and was good to go. Now I realize the spot where the lipstick was is bleached. The chemicals in the lipstick must have done something, as that was the only substance on it. Now, I don't wear makeup when working out, so getting lipstick on my lulu isn't a regular occurrence- but it stinks the dyes are so delicate.

Kristina said...

I meant I think some people can wear just about any shoe. I personally think a lot of the shoe stuff is hype. There are certainly shoes that will work better for you and you probably shouldn't run in $10 walmart shoes but most of my friends just buy from sport mart and buy by feel. As far as I know none have been injured and they continue to do so. I have another friend whose husband had his feet and running gait checked out by a running shoe and absolutely hated the shoes he was told were best for his feet.

You're welcome Monkey Girl!

Kristina, I'm not trying to force my views on you and we are all different. People will do what they will do. For Pink Peony and others, I'm only giving advice they may want to consider since they're asking for tips. The number one thing is to take care of your body, so if someone is just starting to run, a gait analysis is one small thing to do. It is not going to hurt to do it. I can also assure you from years of experience gait analysis is not hype.

Btw, women's running is "exploding". In races, the run ratio used to be approx. 60% men and 40% women. Those stats are now changing; participation by women is outnumbering men. I definitely notice this in the races that I run, when you see the stats for # of men vs # of women. Athletic brands (every one of them including LLL) know this too! This is the first year for the Sea Wheeze (a race for both genders), but ask yourself why now, why not in previous years? LLL has been a strong brand for a long time. Women only runs are more popular in the US than here in Canada. Nike San Francisco Marathon and Half Marathon for women is a big one - Tiffany necklace at the end. I've not run it, but one day :)
https://www.facebook.com/NWM26.2/app_193921220718307

In Toronto we now have the Women's TO Run series (going into its 5th year) and whether you are local or a destination runner, I would highly recommend these races. It is awesome and inspiring to run amongst all women, every shape and size and ability. Very empowering! Go ladies! I also love the Toronto Scotiabank Marathon and Half Marathon, and the Women's Toronto Island Half Marathon.

A word about the indigo denim fabric- the fabric doesn't pill. It fuzzes. Like, there is a light layer of fuzz all over the fabric now. It's not in a place where the wearer can be blamed-- it is all over. The fronts of the legs, calves, everywhere.
I don't find that fabric revealing- in fact it is very thick and offers great coverage. It shouldn't fuzz like that, though...it looks terrible.

And about sheerness. I know people from time to time comment that if it's sheer you're wearing the wrong size. That's NOT true. I am a true size 4. I wear a 4 in everything Lulu and have for years. There have been recent batches of WU (even in black) that are sheer when I bend over, and the colors have been bad for that. There are educators who do crossfit at my gym and wear size 2/4, and they even say that they can't wear the colors for working out unless their backsides are covered with a long top. I'm tired of people blaming the wearer. Call a spade a spade... It is the fabric, NOT the wearer. We've seen round after round of substandard fabric and construction. I am a Lulu fan, and I will stick with them for the pieces that do come across well made.

Anonymous said...

@ 10:22 AM fully agree with your comments on sheerness and don't blame the wearer. I'm also a tts 4 and notice the difference over the years. I have WU crops from even a year ago that are more solid (not sheer) than what's been produced lately.

As for some saying running crops are too sheer when used for yoga...keep in mind that when LLL wants to give you a second skin feeling, the material may be sheer if/when you bend. They're really deliberate about designing it for runners so it may not work in cross fit, yoga etc. I know, I know it should work for all athletics, but it's LLL, you know how they are. However, they are coming along with trying to design for more activities. e.g., Discover crop, designed for: yoga, cycling, run.

Happy birthday, yogibabe!

Pink Peony, go you! I'm in the same boat where I'm not much of a runner and my body really fights me when I try. When I started out I was definitely in the "my heart is going to explode after just one mile" camp. I won't say I'm vastly improved but I can bang out three miles and still feel OK by the end of it. There's hope for you! My best friend went from being a pretty inactive person to running a 1/2 marathon in a matter of months so I know you can do it. As others have said there's a lot of information and advice out there so good luck finding a program, diet, and shoes that work for you. Oh, and of course finding cute running outfits that motivate you too.

Speaking of which, I wore the low-rise Fast & Free crops I'd debated returning last week for a 2.5 mile run and am now glad I kept them. I paired them with a NLT, which is both long enough and loose enough to cover my torso and hide any of my belly that's not being held in by the waistband. The crops may have started out low but they didn't budge during my run so I'll say they're a winner. I'm loving the cute little ruffle too. I'd rank them up there with my Sun Sprinter crops.

THANK YOU ALL for the tips on running, hotels, etc. I appreciate all the help. You guys are the best here!

I will definitely get my gait analyzed by somebody else. I can do this on my patients but not for me since I can't watch my gait from behind (my kids will disagree, they swear I have eyes behind my head). I will also work on my playlist. I have a Zune, iPhone but not iPod. I could get one of it's better than what I got right now. I love music but I am pretty low tech. My kids can probably help me before they all leave for the fall semester. I hate it when they ask me "Do you want it the legal way or illegal download?" WHAT?!? Sometimes I wonder where I went wrong. Ha Ha.

@Amy: I'm with you on the inspires. I gave my only one to my sister since they were to long. I don't particularly care for the stripe on the bottom. I think it will date them sooner than later. I plan on taking my plain ( non special edition and ruffled) WU's to get hemmed about 2" so I can wear them more to work out in not just lounging around.

Sorry LLA this is a long thread. I want to extend my appreciation to all the runners and travelers, etc on this blog. THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL!

I fill in the rest days with yoga and sometimes Pure Barre. Good luck! and give it a try!!

shoes are important!!! i had a gait analysis years ago, and was so attached to my comfy shoes i kept running and purchasing the same ones. years later...after a break from running due to serious injury (not running related), i went back to my trusty shoes and started the couch to 5k.

hello injury. went from a recommendation by my chiropractor and now am running comfortably. injury related, age, gait change who knows but shoes did make a significant difference for me personally.

its not worth injuring yourself in the middle of training, it stops your momentum and its harder to come back from injury than put the effort into the proper gear.

not saying all injury is shoes related, mine was.

my hubby can run in just about any shoes, i cannot. i guess it just depends on the individual.

Anonymous said...

I completely agree about the sheerness of the newer bottoms - I have been working out in LLL for over five years, still exactly the same size, and now the latest pants I try on are all sheer. I never experienced this until recently. I keep hoping the quality will revert to their earlier high standards.

Sorry, no matter how you put it. There is nothing lovely or healthy about eating pork. That you love eating it, doesn't mean it's healthy. I've never never read in any health/nutrition books or journals, that we should incorporate PORK as part of a healthy diet. I find it irresponsible that you advise people to consume pork.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:53 and 9:39,

A simple google search indicates that certain cuts of pork of ARE healthy.

"Many cuts of pork are as lean as chicken and are just as healthy for those following a reduced-fat diet."

I am relatively new to lulu but would like to share the tales of these 2 crops. I have a denim embrace crop in grey which fuzz all over after couple of wash. It is however, not sheer and thicker than the usual luon. And sweat stain also shows through the sweatier area eg crotch. Despite liking the material and disregard of the fuzzy fuzz, I will only consider it if it's in darker colour. If one mind about fuzzy furry crops, this is not an option.

And my less than 6 mths old EnF crop black developed a bad run behind from the middle of crotch and upwards. The run is really bad that there is no way I can wear this crop without flashing whoever behind me. In fact, any wear will further aggravate the run into a full blown tear. This crops is seldom worn, less than 3Xs/mth coz I tend to rotate all my bottoms.

Anonymous said...

So I soaked my new currant Power Y and left it for a couple of hours... I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't bleed. Water was clear. To make sure, I rubbed a white cloth on the wet fabric to see if there would be any color transfer... None! White fabric was still white. Yey! :-)

Anonymous said...

On cleaning the Mat- I mix lemon juice (like 2 lemons) and water, maybe half and half in a spray bottle and spray it down. I use a hand towel to rub it all over the mat and let it air dry. This really works to clean it and keep it non stick and I do it every 2-3 yoga practices? I've had it for 6 months and love it. It really prevents me from slipping at all when I sweat.

I wish...they'd put up some "good stuff" in WMTM. I'm so tired of seeing the same ole stuff. (Canada side)

@ 7:45 AM not if you're wearing the right underwear that work for you. Different for everyone as to what works best but I would never go commando. I'm not judging those who do, it's all personal preference. I wear Speed Shorts with underwear and not even the same ones/style everytime; it's not even a fussy thing for me. I run all distances.

Speed/turbo shorts - commando.
Skirts- it depends.

@ 7:16 AM it would appear so (I don't own either). I understand the Unmat is for portability (including travel), using it on its own (tho it is quite thin) if you like or for layering over another basic mat. By all accounts The Mat is very heavy but those that love it, love it. The reviews I've read of The Mat state the sweatier you get, the more grippy The Mat. There are display models in store that you can try before you buy.

Commando when running but I wear undies when doing anything else.

The mat and the unmat in terms of the surface are similar. very grippy on both sides.
The difference is that the mat has foam in between the 2 layers which makes it cushy, but also heavy; if you walk around a lot with your yoga gear it gets a bit cumbersome.
I find that the mat is great for all sorts of floor work indoor and outdoor.
The unmat I would only use in a yoga studio. I think it is great for bikram as they always have the rugs in their studios. The smell is completely gone from both my mats.

I have 'The Mat' it is heavy, but really nice and thick, I've had mine for just over two years now and I just use water to clean it with.

On the undies front, I go commando if I'm not exercising or teaching, otherwise I wear thongs. I think it might be changing though because I just bought my first Technithong and I'm going back for more, they're so comfy I forgot I was wearing it.

I sized down in the lilac energy bra I got- however, Lulu sizes are inconsistent. I am wondering for reference to order other colors online if you ladies sized down in the energy bra as well?

We live in a nudust colony...so we go commando all the time!!! Sometimes the bigger chested women, will wear sports bras, but most of us....go to yoga and do our runs...without anything at all! What wonderful freedom having everything "aired" out!! :) Don't knock it...until you try it! ;)

"nudist"

Thanks for the undies input, ladies! I usually run in a thong and find that comfortable. However, with the recent heat wave and unbearable humidity (and my long runs being longer than usual for summertime) it's not really working out... I'll spare you the details. TMI. Anyway, I'm thinking I'll try out commando. Glad to know others do this too!

@ Anon 10:48
You're kidding, right? Why do you read a Lulu Addict blog if you don't wear clothes?

I also sized down in the Energy Bra, all of my Power Y's are size 8 and the Energy Bra bagged on my in an 8. Those sweet educators pulled a display apart to get me a 6 in the Angel Blue.

I washed my pop orange swiftly crb for the first time last night and the bruised berry separately. I hung them to dry (separately) and this morning when I checked, the pop orange has streaks of purple on it. I am returning this one for a currant one I think.

The gal who has her Ebb and Flow unravelling. I will definitely go back to the store and tell the GEC's about this soon while they might still have some to replace it with. They have been replenishing the EnF's. They should replace it. This is a good time for you to make yourself be known at your store so they will know in the future. It will help if you kept your receipt too but defective is defective no matter how you look at it. They should honor it.
I was just contemplating the "commando" idea yesterday when I was wearing turbo shorts at home. It has a liner and I thought for hour long work outs, it should not be so bad. I have yet to find comfy undies myself. I think the problem I have is when my shorts or crops shift, the undie shifts and makes you aware of it which is annoying. I wear thongs and bikinis myself and so far Lulu undies are ok.

I just picked up a pair of ziggy wee flare WU crops. I like them a lot better than the pants. They are really cute for fall!

Also saw the Engage and Free to be bras in currant.

So glad to hear people aren't having bleeding issues with the currant. I broke down and bought a currant item today (Run:Engage bra). Fingers crossed mine doesn't bleed either!

Kinda not feeling like this upload is going to be all that, especially since I don't care for red or the ziggy prints...

So i'm going to wish for some mythical lulu items I would die over if they got uploaded. Even though you can just FEEL they are never going to ever make em. Anyone have some of those??

Would love:

Angel Blue Hot But Not Tank (Would die for this!)

Power Purple Hot But Not Tank

Cranberry Ebb and Flows (to go with my Angel Blue tank, hehe)

Cranberry Gratitude Wrap

Thank you to the ladies who reply to my Un/Mat question. I decided to order the Unmat for a couple of reasons: It's lighter and thinner, so easier to insert in the mat pocket of the newest lulu backpack which I also just ordered, together with the Unmat.
And because I usually ride my bike to school and then to the studio, or take public transportation. The Mat would kill my back, together with my laptop and books.
I'm in Europe with no stores to check both mats out and compare. Thank you!

@Anon 1:10 pm: You are good. I also want each and everyone of those. I am trying to calm down on my sea wheeze 2013 excitement or else I will end up buying everything with a RUN word in the beginning of it whether it is worth a cent or not. I already bought the dart and dash and a tie and fly in Ray. This is about to get bad. Keep wishing for those things maybe it will derail me from my running gear binge.
I am following LLA's lead. I am buying more swiftly racer backs.
