Sea Wheeze Stuff in Tasmania

Hmmm, a Tasmanian store just posted these - a bunch of stuff from the Sea Wheeze. Lulu must have made more since I know the shorts and Cool Racerbacks were sold out at the store. I'm thinking we might be seeing it, too. Nice to know my "exclusive" merchandise that I waited two hours to pay for at the Sea Wheeze was only exclusive for three months. Lesson learned for next year - skip the store or only buy stuff that actually says "Sea Wheeze 2013" on it.

I really don't think you'll see it in the US stores... I reported seeing some of this stuff in QLD (Australian) stores back in Sept so just think excess was sent here! Wish I'd seen those red shorts in my size though!!!

LuluAddict said...

There was very little excess - those cool racerbacks and red and plaid shorts were all sold out at the event. I think they made up another batch. The website had some recent maintenance with a bunch of stuff marked "special edition" that wasn't. I suspect we'll be getting a surprise tonight.

LLA... I don't blame you and others for being a bit ticked off!

Eric said...

Was going to tweet you but its "too long"

Just got off chat...

He says to "keep an eye out on the upload" in regards to special edition gear just in time for the holidays.

"It is, anything you may see on the facebook page is probably something we may be releasing for the future"

"Perhaps, only for the Australian website however."

I think we might see this tonight! (kinda sucks for people who traveled so far for the half marathon and bought unique gear to have it later released online).

Maybe lulu saw how much its going for on ebay and decided to release it to make more $$$$

What time is everything uploaded tonight?

Thats sad for everyone that participated. Shame on lulu... those items should be special and this is taking that away!!

On a side note, how often do vinyasa scarves come out? I want another one but don't like the current 3 colours.

I'll be a bit disappointed if it shows up in US stores. I was not happy that everyone in Vancouver could buy it, we didn't even get exclusivity fir an hour b/f gobbs of non-runners stormed in. I did however see a bunch of stuff in the local Vancouver stores the day after the race.

I've been trying to place an order online since 8 am this morning up until now 7 pm and the items will not go in to my basket... I haven't called to place an order, since I'm too lazy... I'm hoping the website works by the time the upload is supposed to take place.

While I'd love to get those striped CRBs for myself, it does kinda suck for those who waited hours to buy these 'special edition' items at SeaWheeze.

Sandra said...

Not sure if my comment posted but I haven't been able to order online all day... Items will not go in to my basket... Any one else having the same issue?

This is extremely obnoxious of Lulu to do this. So much for making their race special for their supported runners. I can't figure out why I continue to support this company. All we really wanted from the race was a shirt that actually said the name of the race on it. If new product was to be made, it should have been named race attire offered to registered runners.

LuluAddict said...

@ Anon 7:17 pm - the only people who got stuff that actually said "Sea Wheeze, August 11, 2012" on it were the employees and volunteers. I would have loved to have one of the shirts that I saw. I have memories of my trip and the race but I don't know why they had to put the Sea Wheeze Runner Girl on it. Now you won't be able to tell my stuff from someone who just gets it off the website - not cool. I wonder if we'll be seeing the special London Olympics merchandise, too. That had a little crown next to the lulu symbol.

People: Usually the race gear is sucky and ugly. Just ask all the Nike Women's Marathon/Half Marathon runners who got a highlighter lime green finisher's shirt. Be happy that you got cool gear at the SeaWheeze, even if you did have to buy it. It's really not that big of a deal. Think of all the NYC marathoners who didn't even get to run their race this past Sunday -- many of whom were probably already in NYC for the race when it was cancelled on Friday. They didn't even get to run their race, much less buy race gear... They also didn't get their houses and lives destroyed by a hurricane either. So there's good stuff, bad stuff, and worse stuff. Be happy if you don't have either of the last two...

I bought the mini check vinyasa scarf a couple hours ago with no problem

I ran the Sea Wheeze and too waited in line for 3 pieces of merchandise. I arrived at 9 am and couldn't snatch one of those razorbacks, so I am happy that I might get a chance soon. I don't really see these items as "Sea Wheeze" exclusive, because no where on the items does it say Sea Wheeze 2o12. Seems like here in the Midwest, people don't even know it's supposed to be Sea Wheeze exclusive anyways.

If this is uploaded tonight, my wallet is in trouble! I love the sea wheeze items, but couldn't make it to the race. It makes sense to make most of it available to the rest of us, but they could have made it clear to the runners that they were only getting first access to it.

Yes. Just tried the LLL website out. Can't put anything in my basket either. Hope this is fixed before upload.

LuluAddict said...

@ Rachael - Part of lululemon promoting the event was them saying racers had an opportunity to buy special exclusive merchandise.

Anonymous said...

@ Marlies: hear hear. Not that big of a deal, people!

LuluAddict said...

I just tried putting a Rasperry Glo CRB in my cart and started checking out and it went ok. Are you in the US?

Sandra said...

I'm in the US and I just tried to put the reversible RG/BS WUC in my cart and it won't go... I even tried adding different sizes. I wonder if its just the mobile version on my phone that just doesn't work.

LuluAddict said...

@ Marlies - The NYM runners who went to NYC got to buy race gear. They kept the expo open even after they announced the race was cancelled.

LuluAddict said...

@ Sandra - I am on my home PC and it worked fine so I'm thinking it might be. I think the website had a problem with Safari last week.

Wow! What a p!ss off! I waited in line 1 hr 15 minutes to pay. Getting one of the striped CRBs was near impossible! I had to browse/lurk (a long time) around the racks to see if/when they would put stuff back from people in line trying then on (I didn't need to try, I know my sizing) and I FINALLY got one. The red shorts w/ blue trim (as seen her next to the plaid) were totally gone by the time I got there and in (9 a.m.)

I saw the post a while ago about gear showing up down under. A girl at the SW store told me they didn't receive all the shipment for the store, so figured maybe it's just that stuff. Made sense not to release in NA.

The gear should be exclusive to those who ran the race first and gear shouldn't be available beyond that! That's what makes it special!

Of course, agree with you LLA. The CRB's staff had with the SW name and the cool fish were the best. That was the other peeve as this is totally the CRB they should have been given to female runners in the race kit, not the dumb polka dot boxer shorts.

Way to be TOO money grubbing LLL. Gosh, one dumb mistake after another. Who runs that company? Monkeys on typewriters?!

Sandra said...

Thanks LLA! I think you are right!

On the Canadian side of the site, every pair of pants is marked "special edition", as LuluAddict mentioned above (I assume you were looking at the US side?).

Maybe it's code for "we're about to raise the price" (lol, sort of, because hello, can we stop raising the prices???)

Anonymous said...

@ Marlies 7:32 PM - please don't suggest that people are not compassionate or sympathetic about Hurricane Sandy and its impact. Totally inappropriate of you to do that on here! Seriously.

BTW the clothing in the SW kit was NOT great. Women's short look like men's boxers, men's shorts are just not cool. We are talking about the SW STORE where we PAID for so-called exclusive gear. The only thing I can say is that LLL is very lucky they did not charge more for that gear, or else they would never hear the end of it.

Bad, bad PR move LLL! Keep racking em up!

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I'm stoked they may be releasing the SW colors. They are just so much FUN! I just ran a marathon in NZ wearing FERE striped groovys and the bright lime swiftly and really stood out. (Heard a lot of "Go girl in the stripy shorts!") Yes, I realize that's probably because no one in the race had what I was wearing and that might not be the case once the newer stuff is uploaded. But the bright colors sure beat wearing black in a large race.

Now - all that being said - to me, the runner girl is the piece that makes it uniquely SW. I can see them uploading the swiftlys at full-price since the runner girl wasn't on it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a discount on the runner girl merch. I may be way off, but a girl can wish, right?

Anonymous said...

What time does the new upload go up?

Anonymous said...

People, this is really not a big deal nor is it unique. I did the Chicago marathon and the Nike 'exclusive' products were also subsequently vailable for purchase at the Nike on Michigan Ave. If someone purchases a shirt they haven't earned, that doesn't diminish my achievement, nor does this diminish your respective achievements...

HPSauce said...

I was having that issue a couple weeks back.. I called my order in as I was afraid it would sell out!

LuluAddict said...

@ jen - very interesting about them not getting all the shipment for the store. I hit the store 3 times and no one ever told me that. They said they were surprised by how much they were selling. That could explain the runner girl on a re-release.

@luluaddict Do you even like Lululemon anymore? I used to really enjoy your blog, but now most of your posts are negative and all about expressing your frustration with Lulu. If you are so disappointed in Lulu speak with your wallet and stop buying their products and become an addict of a company that doesn't frustrate you so much!

LuluAddict said...

Uh, I think you have me confused with the people who comment here. Have you seen how much stuff I have bought lately? The new Limitless Blue Wee Space print Run For Your Life crops, the new Raspberry Glo CRB, the new Alberta Lake Rose print Scuba Stretch hoodie - to name the last three purchases in the past two weeks.

I think I have a right to be a little irked that my "exclusive" Sea Wheeze merchandise is not so exclusive anymore. Lululemon operates on a scarcity model. People "collect" lulu. We definitely like having lulu not many other people have. That is the natures of the beast and the way lululemon has TRAINED us to be. They encourage it by limiting the production runs of colors and styles.

@ Nicole ... read a bit more carefully about how much she actually uses...she posts about the things she likes and uses all the time...
lululemon releases hundreds of products every year... some of them are bound to be duds... combine that with lulu's reputation for excellent products and the fact people buy trusting that reputation... I'm glad she has this blog because her sharp eye and criticisims have helped me filter out dozens of items that i would have regreted buying... Her blog has also helped me learn which qualities and features make lulu items worth what i pay for them and that if other brands offer those qualities and features for less than let lulu know.

Before i started reading this blog i just chose things based on price and looks... now I know that those cheap bargain brand work out pants were cheaper for a reason. They pilled like crazy, they weren't as comfortable, they were always falling on me, sometimes the fabric went so sheer you could see my cheeks (I never used to check how things looked from behind) and they didnt last vey long.

Lets keep the Sandy references off Lululemon blogs plz! I mean really, to suggest that people aren't compassionate is ridiculous... You could make that case against anyone for just about anything. Not the place to do it!

I agree with those of you who are frustrated with the release of the Sea Wheeze stuff... LOTS of it is cute, and it would be very nice to have, but there should be some exclusivity for the race participants.

Now here I am, eagerly awaiting tonight's drop so I can see if we are getting the new Ebb and Flows! I'm interested to see the changes... I hope they keep the high rise and a longer length is a negative for me, since I'm short.

HURRY UP 11:15pm!!!

I agree with Amanda, LLA has helped me tremendously in making smarter choices in what I choose to purchase from LLL. I also appreciate people complaints and rants because it helps me be more diligent about what may or may not work for me. I love this blog!

Anonymous said...

I'm suprised so many people are up in arms about SW merchandise being sold again, if you waited in line and paid for it then you should really love it not just because you believe it to be "exclusive" and for "runners" only, seems a tad extreme especially since styles and colours are constantly being recycled and tweaked by lululemon and every other clothing company ever in existence. I suggest deep breathing and some yoga to get a healthier perspective :)

Anonymous said...

+1 to LLA for your thoughtful and in depth reviews (and always being one step ahead)

This is a wealth of information particularly those far from stores- where you can't rely as easily on touch, fit and those quirks that make the product being an absolute gem- or not. Thanks LLA.

LuluAddict said...

Wow, I just took a deep breath and did a little yoga and I AM feeling much better. Thanks for the suggestion!

Anonymous said...

I, too, am thankful for LLA's honesty and thorough examination of various lululemon products. I also used to buy workout gear without as much knowledge as I have from reading this blog and becoming more discerning about what I was actually buying. I have held off buying certain items until I knew more about them, and that has saved me time and money.

Now. I'm getting a little tired of the flare on the bottom of my Groove pants. I'm debating trying the new Slim version--but would those be better than the new Barre Pulse pant?

Shouldn't we wait to see if they actually upload SW gear before getting angry about it?
