The Latest

The Down to the Studio Jacket shown with the the Lacoflage print tank underneath. I think this is a Free to be Tank.

More of the latest What the Fluff items - vest, jacket, pullover and the Down to the Studio Jacket.

The latest Back on Track tank colors. I wish I liked this better because I love the Raspberry Glo and Black Swan one.

A great photo of the new Love Red Slope Stripe Wunder Unders. Readers are saying these run on the sheer side but the print can camouflage your undies.

The two Wee Space prints in the Scuba Stretch hoodies.

Runder Under LS outfits.

Pitter Patter Pullover photos.

Im seriously not excited about very much, that's coming out. If I do like the item, it's only in 2 colours and the colours are bad. I find colours online so deceiving!! You see something in a product notification email, from a store and it looks yellow in the pic. When you order it online and it gets to you...it turns out, it's neon yellow-green and super BRIGHT! It's very unfortunate for people who DON'T live near a store! The new clarity yellow, looks banana yellow in some pics and neon yellow green in other pics. Hard to know...what it really looks like in person. :( Boo!

Does anyone know if there was a brushed define in the Alberta lake herribne

Does anyone know how the down is sourced (ie live plucked vs slaughterhouse byproduct?) Given that lululemon makes more and more of its products in China, I worry that the down in their products is live-plucked...

Um, yeah. That scuba photo shows why I had to return the two scuba stretch jackets. Not a look I want to go for.

Lol! Half the shots are from my local store :) Very cool to see that they got in the new RU LS colors!

My God that jacket is a (not-so) hot mess. How impractical.

I really like that pullover, I hope the cire patch in the back doesn't ruin it. I didn't like the material on the jackets that came out earlier this year, and only the black one is on the website so I can't really tell.

As for the WTF stuff, WTF indeed. that scarf???

This is off the subject of LL but has anyone see pvbody. You pay $40 for a monthly subscription and they send you a shirt and bottom based on your fitness personality. They sent me a brand called NUX and basically it seems like a copycat of LL but made in America. Does anyone know anything about this company?

I just looked at the reversable runder under shirts today and they don't look even remotely reversable, they look like they are on inside out, also had a very polyestery feel to them.

devotion top is very cute, but am on a lulu diet.
Even though I think ill get the free to be tank in the floral pattern when it comes to my local store

I tried on the Love Red Slope Stripe WUCs, with high hopes based on reader comments. They are sheer, so sheer I could read the words on the tag, not just see the outline. They are JUST AS SHEER as all the summer luon that made everyone boycott. I think it's sad that we have reached a point where we are willing to "forgive" the sheerness and justify it because they are cute and we want them. So Lulu gets away with their ever-worsening quality and we, the only ones who can effect change, give up and give in and just deal with it. It's sad. The WUCs are sheer, period. I won't buy them, because they are not worth their price tag. And I won't buy them again until the quality rises to what it once was.

Liana - I'm vegan so I won't buy down or wool regardless, but I would also be interested to know if LL is at least using humane means of collection. Worth an email to CS, though I doubt they would fess up if they were live-plucking...

grrr! i google stalked pv body and apparently they send people actual lululemon! so you get two pieces for $40 and one girl got some nike running tights and a lululemon tank. grr!!!! really lululemon? as a label 'lady of the night' i do not like this at all. i scan blogs and seek out your stores when i'm on vacations to find special, unique things--not items that are sent by the boxload to randoms for $20 a piece.

Love Nux. great company with some quality pieces. starting to like the pants from them more than the lulu pant. Also check out Splits 59. Another great made in the USA site with beautiful clothes.

Anyone tried Lorna Jean? I just found them when I was in Los Angeles last week. I found their crops a bit too low rise for my taste but the tanks seemed amazing! I didn't buy anything though... Their return policy is worse than LL's!

that's nothing, I was approached, by Lulu higher ups a few years ago, to test their clothes out, blog about them on their website...and was TOLD I would get "free Lulu clothes" for writing reviews and testing them out! Imagine that! Now that sounds like a GREAT job! :) Months and months passed and Lulu kept extending the time period where I would be offered the job....then the woman whom I was in contact with, suddenly stopped responding to emails and returning calls. not a professional company to deal with! :( If she had changed her mind about giving me this opportunity, she should have just told me, instead of playing games!

so unfortunate, (for Canada) so many companies in the USA to choose from for yoga wear and yet, does anyone know....if any ship to Canada? I've spoken to a few companies and the ones Ive spoke with, didn't ship to Canada, if they did, it was with a rather heafty price. Don't mind paying a lot for clothes, but then shipping and custom fees, ect....don't want to go down that road. Anyone know another fairly good yoga brand, (not Gap) excellent quality...and can be purchased in Canada. Just curious, to know some options! :) (with some of lululemons declining quality) Thanks,

the scubas look SOOO short on the torsos of the girls modelling them. dislike! :(

Liana, my guess would be live - plucked. I wish more consumers were aware of this inhumane practice. I won't by anything down.

Anonymous said...

It's the first time I hear about live-plucked down !! I would not want to encourage such an inhumane practice ! WOW ! That's really disgusting ! Thank you for educating us... here is a link: check the animal cruelty section...

I'll email customer service and report back...

Thank you Liana. But I'm sure that Lulu will BS us just like with all other issues like the Ph story ! But please do keep us informed. That's not something I would want to encourage.

Argh first I've heard of live plucking!!! MY GOD! I just bought the WTF vest tonight and I loved it but then saw a fleece one at ON for $8 and realized this might have been a mistake... Now if I find out it's live plucked down I'm definitely taking it back.

Mksaka said...

Yes! Still online in all sizes last time I checked!

Mksaka said...

The down is from geese that are made for consumption, and there's no live plucking!

They aren't live plucked, and they're bred for consumption.

Don't worry, lulu doesn't use live plucked down!

My guess.....they will dace around the subject and we won't get much of an answer. would be nice to know!bThanis for sharing....

I just checked out live plucking on YouTube and it is so sickening that you would never buy a down jacket from a company that buys from vendors using these practices. I just checked Canada Goose web site and the state that they do not use any feathers from venders that live pluck...I do not think any clothing is worth it, if made out of cruelty to animals....talk about bad karma!

Who eats geese? And how do you know???? Is it posted somewhere? Did you ask?

Saw these scuba stretches in store today. I can't believe how cheap they look. They are awful. I left LLL yesterday and went to Old Navy And got one that honestly was equal if not better in quality to the scuba stretch and $20... Also if that new forme jacket is their new version of the define I'm seriously feeling the LLL fog lifting. I wore one of my own to check it out and they are totally different- and the forme is so ug. Sigh. Now where will I buy all my clothes?? eBay I guess.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. Saw the new scuba stretch and thought it was foul. Thankfully there was a Bordeaux drama one in the old style left and I snapped it up. The forme jacket I disliked heavily but I tried on the daily yoga jacket again and then an in stride and I find the daily yoga fits me better. It's growing on me. If it was the same price as the in stride I might have caved but the higher price point is a big deterrent.

I picked up a puffy vest from Old Navy for $20 yesterday. There's no way I would spend as much as lulu is asking.

@anon 7:43 - the main food dish geese are raised for is fois gras. this is a traditionally french dish, but popular all over the world in gourmet restaurants. you don't see good breast on the menu very frequently here in the states - chicken and duck seem to be preferred. however, you do find goose more in eastern europe and asia.

I went shopping today and when I saw down coats I fell sick thinking they could be made out of live-plucking ! Thank you Liana for educating us ! I never knew.... or even thought about where the down comes from...

I bought 3 pieces of splits 59 clothes in their poppy color. It cost me $230 free shipping ( over $150). When I got it I was shocked at how cheap the fabric looked and felt and how 80s neon it looked. It is literally worse than LLL. Sattva fabric. The scratchy French terry. On WMTM now. They are going back but they have a funny return policy. You have to email them that you want to return items then wait for them to tell you what's next. I love my Helena top from splits but these are worse than Lulu honestly. The crop is like a legging, mo compression ( I should have known it was one size only... What's this all about?) the tops are 92 or higher. Horrible and waste of time.

I did get an email back from the GEC today:

"Hello Liana,

Thank you for contacting us at lululemon athletica.

We appreciate how passionate you are about the wellness of our feathered friends! Our down is not live plucked and is a by-product of the food industry. You can tell the feathers are a by-product of the food industry as they are not bleached. This is why the colour of the feathers can be visible when used for garments that are lighter colours. Thanks again for reaching out, Liana! We hope you have a great weekend.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Guest Education Centre and an educator will be happy to assist you! You can reach an educator at 1.877.263.9300 or through our Live Chat function online.

Kind regards,

Brittney"

Geese bred for foie gras is just as cruel as live-plucking. They are force fed through tubes far beyond their stomach capacity specifically to enlarge and fatten their livers (what foie gras is made of - goose liver). It's easy enough to google. It's a truly horrifying and inhumane practice. So even if the geese are bred for "food" and their down is sourced after their slaughter, their suffering in life is just as bad, if not worse because it's so prolongued.

Sorry to bring it up, but not everyone knows where their food comes from or what the food industry tries to hide from consumers.

Anonymous said...

not all geese are bred for foie gras. some are sold the same as chickens, buy 10:36 I am glad you brought the subject up. I think we need to be aware of where our food and garments come from .

Wow thanks for posting Liana, pretty relieving to hear that the vests aren't live plucked.. I bought one and love it - but I think it would have had to go back if I learned it was live plucked!!

As for the new Scubas- massive FAIL! Not only are they terribly short (as in exposed belly if you lift your arms at all, like the pic shows) but it also rides up and you constantly have to pull it down. Not a fan!
