More of the Latest

I keep thinking about the Bold In the Cold LS I tried on yesterday. A review on the website describes it well: "Comfortable like an old sweatshirt but softer."  Too bad this wasn't repriced this morning as well. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Lots of people on the search for the Don't Hurry Be Happy Pullover. It sounds like they are at most stores now. I've read a few reviews that say they feel a little different than last year's version, particularly the running luon portions. I am thinking there is a good chance it show up on line. Lulu just started offering the free FedEx Express shipping option, too.

Speedy Turtleneck in the Polar

Got my "pique" Bangbuster today. The pique seems a lot less textured than other piques. I do love it, however. It fits looser (or maybe it's stretchier) than a lot of my other recent Bangbuster headbands.

I love your blog! I check it as frequently as I check the LLL site :)

I, too, am hoping they drop the price of the Bold in the Cold LS because what they're asking is ridiculous.

Question: what's the sizing like for the Don't Hurry Be Happy Pullover? Would it fit the same as a Scuba? (the previous Scuba with the side panels, not the stretch)
I want to snag one of these as soon as they pop up online....

If you want to look like you've gained ten pounds, aged bout ten years and you want that frumpy soccer mom look - then run don't walk and get the new DHBH! You won't be disappointed!

I haven't seen the pullover in person yet but IMO all of the Rulu this year is different from last year's with the exception of the Star Runner tops. I have Runder Unders, Star Runners, the Rulu tops from last year in SS, a Rulu tank from last year that went straight to WMTM, and Ivivva Rulu leggings from this year and last. It seems like this year's Rulu feels slicker and not as cozy somehow. I still love Rulu but it does seem like the fabric as been changed just like the old Luon recipe was changed.

@ Xtizzy - I'd say it runs tts. I always thought Scubas ran TTS size, too, though.

@ anon 10:44 pm - lol. It is a schlumpy look.

Do you think you can take a picture of the Coco pique Bangbuster? Wondering if it's worth going to the store to buy it since it's sold out online!

LLA where did you get your pique Bangbuster? I don't see it on the site. I want one now due to your blog post. lol.

The pique ilooks like the new coco pique. It's thin and does not feel textured like pique, but it's definitely woven as some of the threads sit higher than others, like it could easily get a pichk. My friend has worn hers a few times and they seem to be holding up while her cross-stitch arrived with snags.

Ha ok so maybe it looks a little schlumpy, but DHBH is just sooo cozy. Everyone needs a few pieces of clothing that consider comfort over style... I like to wear these kinds of pullovers to keep me warm underneath my thin rainjacket. Also awesome for just lounging around the house, doing outdoorsy winter activities, etc.

I certainly don't think it makes your look 10 years older and 10 lbs heavier :P
Lulu is an athletic wear company and I don't think anything they make is meant to be worn as street clothes (no matter what they try and tell us). I expect my Lulu clothing to function well, not necessarily be fashionable. DHBH might be a little frumpy, but it's a good, "I'm not freezing my butt off in this -40C weather" kind of frumpy.

can you point us to which items have dropped in price? thanks!

oops sorry - just read the previous comments with price drops. thanks!

This sweatshirt looks like something from motherhood maternity. I shy away from anything that brings me back to those days! The only reason everyone is freaking out about it is because lulu hasn't released anything but running gear so far. Gotta grasp for something I guess! I love my Bangbuster so much, running in the cold it keeps my ears warm, spin class I have no sweat in my eyes. Trying to save for when lulu releases something awesome, but may have to get more of these too!

Schlumpy is a good word for it.

Poor soccer moms, they get so made fun of. In their defense, most soccer moms I see wear pretty cute outfits. At the very least they definitely don't look "frumpy". LOL

This looks like the kind of top I would want to wear when I have the flu. Comforting.

Someone posted that the DHBH can make you look like E.T. when he was in the bicycle basket. The cute girl modeling with the pixie cut totally brings that image to life in the top right picture. E.T. phone home.....!!

@ Anon 10:44-freakin hilarious!!

Are bold in the cold pants available online yet?

LuluAddict said...

@ anon 6:28 am - the Bold in The Cold Pants have not been uploaded yet. I would think they'd be uploaded this week because they are in all the stores.

@ Chingaling - it was uploaded in the Thursday upload. I didn't even notice it until Friday morning when someone pointed it out to me. Hopefully it will hit the stores. If I see it in the stores I will post to let you know.

@ anon 1:35 am - Yes, the new coco pique is super thin. I was wondering why the Coco Pique/Black Daily Yoga jacket felt so lightweight and thin.

@ Anon 12:27 am - I'll take a couple photos of the headband today.

The DHBH is a bit schlumpy but it is cozy and warm. I ended up selling my old one because I never wore it here in Southern California. I think I liked last year's two-tone black one a little better than this year's solid version.

Yes, the DHBH is not the most flattering top in the world. It really isn't that bad if you buy the right size, though. How many very warm, cozy tops do not bulk you up a bit? It's really not any worse than bulky knit sweaters.

Anonymous said...

@10:44 you are right. They do make you look heavier and schlumpy.

@6:18am Yes, the ET look is spot on! Perfect description everyone, and I can attest to it. I have (still) the Ghost, which looks exactly like the Polar Cream, from last year.
In the 12 months I have had it, I have never worn it outside the house. Someone said is perfect for when you have a cold/flu, and I totally agree. Or for when you just want to cuddle with your dog/cat on the couch and watch a movie on a rainy night.
VERY comfortable, NOT so much good looking.

I got the black one. TTS. Could have gone down a size but arms felt too snug. I think it's comfy cute over WUs, but then I'm a 40 something soccer mom, so go figure.

joy said...

I can't but think that first shirt and its like look like pajamas. It's the blue mix on the arms.

OOTD: limitless blue CRB, Limitless blue Scuba *stretch and jeans. So happy: the scuba stretch is lovely in LB. Tonight I'll slip on black WUs for yoga practice. Bliss in the basics.

Haha up in Canada it's not soccer moms but hockey moms. You sit in a cold rink all day- and this DHBH is the best thing that ever happened to you. Not all of us have perfect bodies and although I'm proud of my body- it has scars and imperfections that are souvenirs for me, and my family to see- not the other rink moms- and this sweater hides these perfectly while keeping me warm and incredibly comfy in the cold winter. Schlumpy? Maybe- but I'm at the rink to cheer on my son And have fun- not compare myself to others. 3000 stars out of ten for this hockey mom.

In defense of the DHBH, I just bought my first one yesterday. I'm snuggled up in it while watching the snowflakes twirl outside the window. When it's this cold I don't particularly care how I look, I just want to be snug and warm. This piece does the trick.

sophia said...

tried on the DHBH pullover today. basically, it's the pullover equivalent to uggs. ugly, not flattering, but super comfy. either you love it or hate it - i suspect that if you love uggs, you love the DHBH, and if you hate uggs, you won't love the DHBH (maybe i'm wrong, but that's my guess)

sophia said...

oh, and i think the DHBH is a size down piece (a few people have asked). my TTS fit (6) fit, but so did the 4, and the 4 was a lot more flattering, as it looked more like a slim-fitting sweatshirt rather than a big sloppy mess. fwiw, i also have a small chest (34B), and by sizing down, the chest area didn't look too large and baggy...but if you have bigger boobs you might want to stay TTS

I agree about the DHBH: frumpy. I don't understand the fuss. But if I wanted something just for lazing around, I'd get the JC Penney Xertion version for $25 ($30? I forget). I don't get how this is "athletic" wear.

I agree about the new fabric that Lulu is labeling "rulu." The new version stinks, though the black/grey striped first base tank is pretty soft.

I'm happy not to be attracted to anything new. I got so much last winter and in the ensuing year (up until the quality & styles took a massive nosedive). I am pretty much done.

I can't stand the DHBH pullover. It's so '80s and bad. I would not drop the $100+ on this just to lounge around the house; I wouldn't even pay for this if it went to wmtm.

@ 6:10, lol, right have it on hand in case you get sick with the flu. Sick and sweaty and germ it up bigtime.

LLA - re: Bold in the Cold pants ... did you mention if these fit TTS? Debating between a 6 or 8 when they hit the upload. Liking the Toasty Tech, so I might have to do with two pairs of cold weather running pants. One for cold, dry days (Toasty tech) and another for cold, stormy days. TIA!

FYI, there a new *Lux Uba hoodie coming... It's on their sneak peek page or whatever it's called. Looks gross to me... Lol

Can anyone comment on the brushed wunder unders available now and the previous one from before? I'm wondering if there is s huge difference in quality and thickness. TIA

sophia said...

@Jen - i would say the BITC pants run a body-skimming TTS. i take a 6 in everything (except DSP, which i wear a 4), and got a 6 in these. they do feel looser than the toasty tech tights or other running tights or wunder unders, but not loose enough to size down. if you're between 2 sizes, i would go with the smaller one. however, if you're a true 8, don't go down to a 6.

BTW - completely off-topic, but saw a woman wearing the red what the fluff jacket today at Disneyland. It was 65 degrees out. What the fluff? :)

LuluAddict said...

@ jen - It was cold today, what are you talking about? lol. ;-) My husband and I are from the east coast and we chuckle at people we see wearing ear muffs at Disneyland when it's in the 50s - brrr. Lol

Can anyone comment on the quality/thickness of the DHBH relative to the Xersion version by JCPenney?

Anonymous said...

Lol I live in San Diego. It was around 60-65 today and you see people wearing winter jackets and scarves.

Anonymous said...

You are so right! I have the JCP excursion version for $25 and it does the job just fine. They are sold out in every size online so we must not be the only people who think this:)

Anonymous said...

@ Jen 8:28, I'm in central Canada, that would be 18C. That's definitely speed short with a CRB temps!

However, maybe she has a health issue (gets cold due to illness?). I sometimes wonder that when I see people doing something that seems odd.

Anonymous said...

I completely agree. I have the Turn Around LS and the material is nothing like the Runder Under LS. The star runner feels more like last year but I do not think it feels as thick and warm!

Jen said...

@sophia - thanks! I may go with the 6 then. I'm a true in-betweener.. :)

@LLA - ha ha! Though I have to admit, I almost stopped her to ask what she thought of the jacket. Ah, the obsession.

sophia said...

Lol...it was 40 and rainy yesterday in NYC...I ha on groove shorts with DSP and a runder under LS

Anonymous said...

It was rainy and 45 degrees here yesterday. Wore my black DHBH pullover and got lots of compliments all day. I was cozy.

Anonymous said...

@Jen - I just bought the BITC pants and would say they definitely fit big. I'm almost always a 6, occasionally size down to a 4 (almost never) and the BITC were way too loose in the 6 for me. The waist, hips, thighs were baggy in the 6. I could almost get away with a 2(!) but the waist was a too tight at the top (for reference, usually I can't even get a size 2 over my hips to try on).

The pique does snag very easily, I returned my gloves after the threads were pulling after 2 wears.

The same thing is happpening to the Rulu pique top as well. High price tag poor quality.

Bought two (black & polar) DHBH pullovers and although it is far from a sleek look I think it looks great with a pair of WU's. balances out the slightly obscene fit of the WU's with some bulk up top. That said, I wore the polar cream one for a dog walk with jeans this morning and got a lot of compliments, LOL! But I am 5'8" 125lbs so I can use some bulk. I also kind of like the "I don't give a eff look?" Sometimes with LULU you give off a high maintenance vibe with the yoga butt and expensve clothes. I don't mind that but some days you really just want to be cozy, especially in winter! So cheers for the I don't give an eff look!

sophia said...

@lana - i can totally get behind the "i don't give an eff look"...lol...i think of it as "climbing bum chic". i wore my DHBH in polar cream with WU and a pair of ugg muluks today. it's the "i make the i-dont-give-an-eff-look look good look". kinda like bedhead. i totally pull off bed head really really well.
