Swifty Color - Mellow Lemon vs. Clarity and Bleached Coral Swiftly Length Comparison

Yellow Swiftly Comparisons: Clarity Yellow on left and Mellow Lemon on right. (Thanks to Kellie for the photo.)

Size 6 Bleached Coral Swiftly length comparisons. Compared against Ray, Pop Orange, and Concord it's about 2.25" shorter. Against some other colors like Pow Pink, like 1.25" shorter. (Thanks to Diane for the photo.) I tried this Swiftly on the other day and it's shorter but since I am 5'5" I can live with the shorter length. I didn't get this tank since I already have Pop Orange and a couple of pink Swiftlys.

Those new swiftly tanks are way to short for me @ 5'10"!
I really don't like that material anyway, it's not very flattering on most people.

Love my Mellow Lemon CRB. Very soft too.

I'm not into Swiftly tops.

I might need a mellow lemon CRB. I'm liking the muted color. I think it would look great with my bleached coral speeds and the frond gos gingham speeds that I plan to get. Thoughts?

Thank you! I brought mine into the store to see if I could find a longer one in my size but they were all sold out. The staff didn't seem to think it was shorter but I had the same result when I compared it to my Flash swiftly :) I'm returning mine as it's too short for me.

An educator told me that the shorter lengths were for the summer so they didn't cover the waist band on the skirts and shorts. Don't know if this is true, but it's what I heard.

Swiftlys, at least in the past few years, have been crazy inconsistent in length, too. I had to return a LS one last year that was my size in width but made for someone who was <5'0. Another unfortunate side effect of the lowering quality control. I haven't bought one online since the above incident for that reason.

Has anyone checked out Ivivva? I am petite and fit size 14 just fine. It carries the similar basics such as CRB and dance studio pants at 30% less the price. Anyone has purchased from Ivivva? I just purchased a CRB as a trial so cannot comment on fit and quality just yet.

I would love to get the mellow lemon swiftly but I purchased a pink shell ss swiftly and it had a snag after just few hours around the house : ( So now I'm skeptical about getting another. Has anyone found a way to fix the snags? Also are the ls or tank versions less delicate?

Is there a discount for that much missing fabric? I can hear the Progressive Lady in my head. DISCOUNT!

It's a cost saving measure. Swiftlys ride up lol so the waistbands won't be concealed.

pretty soon, the swiftly tanks will be so SHORT, they will only be able to be used as a halter top or a tube top!! (if they keep shortening the material) Im 5'6 and find them way too short. the next thing we know...Lulu will stop making shirts, pants and hoodies...in order to save money! They'll just use ALL the material they have and make $75 headbands for everyone! LMAO... Or they will get into the business of manufacturing "gussets," that we can interchange between various pants that we wear!! Oh and they'll fly off the shelves at only $98 a gusset and GUESS WHAT??? People on here, will probably still buy them! Sad, but oh so true! LOL

Hi, anon 6:01 - I have ordered a couple of things from iVivva - I am a size 4 lulu and the 14 fits well, though the cuts are definitely not as curve-hugging - it's obvious the clothes are designed for girls, vs. women. That being said, the quality of the pieces I've ordered so far is on par with the old lulu - and I prefer iVivva's jackets right now to the hair-tie free, crap-zippered new ones lulu is churning out these days.

I find the lace swiftly much stronger than the normal ones.

Anon @ 8:32 AM:

Nope not me! I just spent less than $50 after promo code on a new run outfit at GapFit. I'm a little obsessed with their Breathe shirts. I used to be a LULU faithful but not so much anymore. So there here's one person for you!

@ anon 12:33 pm - do the gap stores have gap fit stuff in them? I rarely tour malls much more but so many people seem to like GapFit stuff I should check them out.

I recently bought a pair of gap's version of wunder unders. I got them for less than $40 and didn't even bother trying them on. I tried them on at home and loved the more compressive fit (very slimming) and the fact that the fabric is not the least bit sheer. I ended up going back and buying two more pairs. I am a lulu collector and rarely buy anything else, but I never felt like the wu pants were worth the $.

@ Anon 6:01 - I've gotten a few things from Ivivva now too and have been really pleased. I am a size 4 at LLL, but size up to 6 in most shorts because I tend to think they look better. But generally a true 4, and I'm a 32A/small B. I am 5'3."

Like the other poster said, the main difference is in the cuts. I've found the tank straps are much shorter, necklines are higher all around. I don't think anyone above 32B could comfortably wear the shirts no matter how tiny you are elsewhere.

I recently tried their version of "grooves" the waistband is much lower. That and the shorter inseam make them a lot better for me than the LLL version actually. Quality of materials is definitely on par (I initially got lured in by rulu tops). The cuts are going to be different, and there are less of some details like mesh areas in tops, no gusset in pants, etc.

I like the shorter length. Shorter girls have a harder time with CRB, so its nice to have a tank that fits.

@anon 5:20 AM:

I use this stuff called fray block. It can come out of the tube pretty fast, so I dab a bit on one of those nail orange sticks, then dab it on the snag. It's suppose to gold up for around 10 washes or so, but I've never had to reapply it to any of mine. Make sure you place something under the snag i.e. if you're doing this on the front of your swiftly, place something inside of the swiftly so the fray block doesn't soak through to the other piece of fabric if that makes sense.

Good luck!

Canadians: Do your stores have the energy bras yet? I was in Chinook and Southcentre (Calgary) on Tuesday and Wednesday and they didn't have any yet!
Just wondering if any Canadians have seen them in store?

OT re scubas- I own four old scubas and I never bought a stretch until the lined hood came out this week. I love my old scubas but they are pretty heavy and sometimes more sweatshirt than I want. I tried on the stretch and liked the thinner material but disliked the unlined hood. I was really happy to see the cute dune/white combo with a lined hood. It arrived yesterday and it looks like a really nice hoodie. I put it on top of my coal tinted canvas one, however, and they are the exact same length- both are a size 4. I had read reports that these were longer than the old ones and that isn't my experience. So anyway I really like it but I think it should be less than $108 and I think they should offer both classic and stretch. Sometimes I want a super warm one. I will keep this one but not buy another at this price. I would grab a mellow lemon if it was $79.

We have probably 5-6 Gap stores around here and two of them carry Gap fit. I think one of them stopped though. So, I'd look it up before going just for that.

I have given up on swiftly shirts also. I pulled my ray one carrying a to go container to my car from a restaurant. I am beyond careful with my lulu. Every time I wear my swiftlys I am so nervous!

LLA - the Gapfit stuff is usually in the separate Gapbody stores. Some of the pieces are quite nice and are a very clear 'version' of LLL items eg Gapfit 'Motion' tshirts (LS, SS) and LLL Swiftly - .also occasionally the jackets. Would be v interested to know what u think of it.

:D @ 12:33PM! :)))) Thats great! Come join the Lulu non-buying club!

Shortening the Swiftly Tank is lame. I'm 5'6", and my tanks from last summer are the perfect length. LLL's obvious cost and corner cutting strategies are getting old. On the bright side, it makes it easy for me to stick to my New Year's resolution of spending less on LLL!

Yes LLA Gap Fit is within Gap stores. Some stores have better selection than others...

11:26 I agree with you on the SE Lace Swiftly vs. regular Swiftly. I have it too.

Re: snags...I read a long time ago that if you bring it back to LLL they can fix some snags for you.

@anon 6:01--I've ordered from Ivivva...I typically wear a 6 in most Lulu tops but a 4 in CRB. I can fit an Ivivva 14, but I find the armholes to be a little constricting. I haven't tried the pants or anything else, was just interested in the CRB-type tank. I don't reach for it as often as my Lulu CRBs, mostly because of the arm holes. Love the super bright color though. :)

@LLA--only certain GAP stores carry the GapFit line. I'm not sure if it says on their website where the GapFit stores are located, but I'm sure a quick call to their customer service line will set you right up. Unlike Lulu customer service, who I called recently before a trip to Phoenix...I asked them which is the bigger of the three stores in the Metro, hoping to find the store with the most inventory, and the educator told me that she saw one store in the Phoenix Metro, so I should check that one out. Hmmm...she must have been using an outdated store locator or something!

So since everyone is raving about the Mellow Lemon CRB, I think I need to pull the trigger. I love the soft CRBs, and lately they've been so scratchy. I think I can wear yellow too...I have olive undertones and tan right up in the summer...it'll be a nice piece to look forward to. Thanks for the enthusiasm girls! :)

Anon 2:21 PM, I'm outside Toronto. My closest LLL store got their shipment on Thursday. I begged and they opened the boxes to see if there were energy bras. There were, I bought a orange pp/ bleached coral one after trying it on.

Hi LLA,

This is Anon 12:33pm. To your ques, "do the gap stores have gap fit stuff in them? I rarely tour malls much more but so many people seem to like GapFit stuff I should check them out"

Like others have said, I would call before you go. I have heard that GapFit is expanding pretty aggressively esp in CA (I live in Northern CA and seeing more Gap stores making their GapFit display look nicer). I see more and more women at my gym / barre classes wearing GapFit stuff, especially the tops and basic capris.

That said, I would wait until there's an online sale (anywhere from 25% to 40% off) to stock up. In my experience I've seen better online deals than in-store. However I've gotten so hooked to their basics that I don't mind paying full price (still a huge steal compared to LLL!)

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with LLL stuff, but after trying this for less than half the price I just feel a tad stupid for spending so much $$ when the quality is just not what I am used to.

I love your blog btw! I am no longer addicted to LLL but still addicted to LLA :)

Thanks for your help. Ill definitely give this a try and see how it goes. The swiftly seems so perfect for my workouts I would hate to give up on them after one try.

I was SOOO scared to get a swiftly because I didn't want to spend $68 on a top that was so delicate but I purchased the beaming blue long sleeve and I have worn mine about 15 times and I have zero snags. I was careful the first two times I wore it but then I just wore it like I would my CRB and its held up really well but what I like most is how warm it keeps me in 30 F weather but doesn't overheat me. I don't run in it just wear it casually since I am pg. It was recommended by some one on this blog and I'm so glad I went for it because its what I reach for most when I want to look presentable but comfortable.

I have an aquamarine swiftly and just got the burning yellow compared length and they are both the same. I love them for hot yoga and sailing in hot weather.
